    Detail log

Welcome to the new users... When the site was launched there were quite a few people that signed up and some good initial feedback which I implemented. Since then however, registrations have slowed significantly and there has been no feedback in a year. As a result there has not been any updates...

How to clean up a muddy car?

Thanks guys, its clean and looking new again... well, not exactly, i went camping a few weeks ago and the car got pretty sappy and then just the minor swirls that have surfaced over the months since its last detail. I hosed it down with just running water until all the chunks just dripped off...

How to clean up a muddy car?

I went out and had some fun yesterday. First time doing a rallyx, placed 6th in class on summer tires and taking it easy over the rough sections. Now, I need to come up with an attack plan for cleaning it. I imagine its a little too dirty for ONR. I washed it and put a fresh coat of wax on it...

@#$%! All my swirls back in one wipe-down!

I don't want it make it sound like a case of mine is better than yours, but the 09's have a bit more power, tighter clutch, stiffer suspension and much better tires. Of course, if I had to choose between my two cars, I would take the Legacy hands down. I've always been interested in the Z's/G's...

    mixing waxes

I also am not trying to flame you or tell you that you are wrong in any way, experimentation is good and there are in fact a few products that mix well, if you come up with the next great thing by combining products then awesome! share it with us :) My point was simply that the chemists know...

Wolfgang Paint sealant and P21S 100% (and some general Q's)

I didn't watch the videos (i've been using onr now for a while and have probably already seen them before), but I know your wash media dirties pretty quickly with ONR. It is definitely still safe and effective. A couple extra towels or a second mitt is nice but not required. The ONR videos i've...

    sealant vs. wax

LOL @ saran wrap, very true... I've always wondered why the car is so glossy but lacks any depth. I thought it was just the paint and all the orange peel. Wax over the sealant doesn't give it any more depth though, not that I have noticed anyhow.

    mixing waxes

Typically, I trust that the chemists know what they are doing and so I don't try to mix my own products. I don't know anything they don't (well not about detailing chemicals and mixtures at least).

    Washing without swirling the paint...

I don't wanna hijack the thread, so I'll just send you to my Show & Shine. I just topped it off with some Optimum Opti-Seal and Optimum Car Wax and it looks amazing, I didn't post those pics in there though.

    Washing without swirling the paint...

Same method I do, works great. I put the ONR QD in a chemical sprayer so I can easily spray the section down and let it dwell for a minute. I prefer the Meg;s Microfiber Wash Mitt though, got a whole drawer full so I can replace them monthly. Sounds like a great traditional wash method, but...

Wolfgang Paint sealant and P21S 100% (and some general Q's)

2 coats of dgps is recommended, any more is not really going to improve either the looks or durability, so you are pretty much just wasting product and time after that. Waiting sucks, but at least the car has some protection. I usually apply the next coat after my next wash. I haven't used p21s...

    White the other Black!

With Menz the paint could be swelled up and hiding the swirls, not even IPA will reveal the truth. Give it a few days and check the results again. White (and silver) are definitely hard to work with. It can be very tough to see any missed defects and make sure all the polish is completely off...
