    Flex 3401 Wool Ring Lubrication???

I looked for "air tool oil" at a couple of local stores, including Wallyworld but couldn't find it. So I used some Wilson Ultima-Lube oil and grease that I had on hand. The Flex worked fine so I will probably continue to use my existing oils/grease periodically. LHB

    Detailing 101 Report

I feel like I just passed my first test in Modern Detailing 101. Last week I washed the car (09 BMW 528 in space gray metallic) and applied/buffed Wolfgang Deep Gloss paint Sealant 3.0. Today I washed the car and used new Flex 3401 with red LC pad to apply Pinnacle Signature Series II carnauba...

    Flex 3401 Wool Ring Lubrication???

Thanks for the info, guys. I am getting ready to use my 3401 for the first time this afternoon. Don't have any air tool oil but do have an ample suppy of various firearm lubes and greases. May try some Wilson's Ultima-Lube oil or grease on the wool ring. Will be applying Pinnacle Signature...

    Flex 3401 Wool Ring Lubrication???

CeeDog, Thanks for the post. I saw the wool ring. My question is more why than what. Since the ring is not even shown/listed/mentioned in the owners manual, I am curious as to why people have specifically recommended oiling it with air tool oil. What is the purpose of ring and why/how...

    Flex 3401 Wool Ring Lubrication???

Just got my new Flex 3401. Some posters have advised lubricating the wool ring with light oil. The Flex owners manual doesn't identify or mention the wool ring. Can you explain: 1. Purpose of wool ring? 2. Why should it be oiled? 3. Type of oil, amount used, frequency of application...

From here on out, ONLY Fuzion, Signature Series II, or Souveran for me!!

Thanks for the suggestion. Did someone tell you I have a talent for doing something new the wrong way? You probably just saved me an "oops!!" followed by an order for a replacement tub of SSII. LHB

From here on out, ONLY Fuzion, Signature Series II, or Souveran for me!!

Now there's an idea. After melting it into a Frisbee, I could just sail/slide it along the car's surface and dispense with the applicator altogether. Would need a dependable partner to catch the frisbee before it hits the dirt though. LHB

From here on out, ONLY Fuzion, Signature Series II, or Souveran for me!!

Dave, That would be nice but things don't usually work out that easy for me. I suspect my 6.5" pads will be too large for the SS II tub. LHB

From here on out, ONLY Fuzion, Signature Series II, or Souveran for me!!

My Flex 3401 and tub of Signature Series II wax will be delivered tomorrow by UPS. Just how do you "remove the wax from tub" to apply it to pad? Difficult? In traditional applications with hand pads, I have never tried removing any brand of wax from tub. Any comments on Fuzion vs SS II over...

    Pad Selection / Technique

Just used my new Meguiars G110v2 on 2009 BMW 528 in Space Gray. After washing and drying car I applied Wolfgang Deep Gloss paint sealant 3.0 with Blue CCS Smart pad and then buffed with Microfiber bonnet over Lambswool pad. Car looks great and the orbital polisher sure beats the old hand wipe...

    Hello

New member here from near Houston. Looking forward to gleaning information regarding finer points of detailing. Reading everything I can find to learn more about use of orbital power polishers. Am trying to work up the courage to buy an orbital polisher (Meguiars or Porter Cable possibly) to...
