If it's really oily, seems like the best thing to get oil off is another petrochemical. Maybe some kerosene, or WD-40? Or have you tried any plastic cleaner, or plastic polish?

I've been thinking about using black POR-15 rust inhibitor on brake calipers. It's proven virtually impossible to remove that stuff from places it got that I didn't want it.

Maybe heavily coat it with some sort of moisturizing vinyl & plastic protectant, let it set overnight. Perhaps the next day the protectant will have made it's way under the adhesive, weakened the bond, and you can slowly pull the adhesive off? Alternatively, heat it up with a heat gun? Maybe it...
