Now that's the answer I was looking for! : ) I actually do have the best luck with the fogging/MF method. I still get scratches though. I might be pressing too hard, but when I use light pressure I end up with hazy lenses.

I got the cleaner from Sears (where i got the glasses) and its alcohol. I guess they don't care if you need replacement lenses ;)

I may have to give that a try on the scratched pair. Did the scratch X hide any of the scratches?

I've tried this method also, and they always seem to haze. I wonder if its the coating on the lens. The last set of prescription glasses I had lasted 7 years with minimal scratching. The latest set is a little over a year old and scratched to hell. I know the Maui Jims have multiple coatings on...

My 06 Black Mustang has pretty bad orange peel. Worse than my black Mazda RX-8 was. I've seen some black Nissan 350z's that had mirror like black paint from the factory. The other day I saw scion Xb that almost made me cry it looked so good, I couldn't see any orange peel at all.
