Would have never guessed. I was thinking I was going to have to wait at least a week or so.

Time to wait before compounding after dr colorchip

So I've got some rock chips that I'm going to be touching up with dr colorchip when it arrives in the mail. Since I'll be stripping the wax before I do apply it, it would be nice to get a much needed compounding in shortly thereafter. What's the protocol with using a compound over areas that...

    Polishing small areas by hand?

I'm getting ready to do a paint correction for the first time and may have overlooked some things. Last week I order a GG6, a bunch of lake county pads, some meguiars ultimate polish, as well as ultimate compound if needed. I have lots of good microfibers and other non-paint correcting...

Overwhelmed, just a few quick questions

I have about 15 quality micro fibers and a few waffle weaves for drying, I should be okay on towels. So I guess it looks like now my order will be the gg6 by itself, a 5" backing plate, some lake county 5.5" pads (5 orange, 5 white, 2 black) and meguiars ultimate compound and ultimate polish...

Yeah I was going to get that kit along with some extra pads. So it won't affect my outcome if switch to LC pads half way through my correction/polish? Where in SW PA are you from?

I think I've changed my mind and am going to go with this kit along with some extra griots orange and black pads unless there is reason to stick with lake country ones? It's a little more economical buying it in the kit and I get the stuff to wash and re-use them this way. Griot’s Garage...

I like this advice very much. There's no sense in spending $3000 for a set of golf clubs when I don't know how to golf. I like your advice to keep it simple and as I gain experience then experiment. Perfect. So I'll start with meguiars ultimate polish on a white pad with the GG6 - evaluate...

Overwhelmed, just a few quick questions

So right now my shopping cart consists of a griots GG6 heavy duty, five Lake Country 5 1/2 Inch Flat Pads in orange, five in white, and two in black. Now I just need to decide on compound and polish... I think?

This was tremendously helpful. In your opinion Don, what would a good user friendly polish (and compound if needed) be, as well as polishing pads and cutting pads? Thanks to the other replies as well. There's so many different recommendations on what products to use this is going to be hard to...

Overwhelmed, just a few quick questions

Now I might be even more confused. There's so many acronyms used it's tough to follow what everyone is suggesting. First I should ask... when using a DA - can you use it both with and without a backing plate? If you use a backing plate do you still use the same pads? If not, when and when not...

New 2015 mustang that needs paint correction. Everyone says the paint is soft. I have no experience machine polishing but am going to attempt it on this car before I seal and wax it for the first time. Only somewhat related experience has been using meguires ultimate compound by hand on past...
