    Review and How-To - NEW McKee's 37 Matte Finish Cleaner & Protectant

Ordered a gallon and tried this today on my frozen gray bmw paint. Can't say i notice any visual enhancement, and doesn't clean better than a diluted ipa wipedown. It did leave the paint feeling slippery. Seems like just another spray on/wipe off sealant with mild cleaning abilities. overall...

    Nanoskin Autoscrub question

Back when i had a glossy clearcoat, i'd experience this after every winter. Just heavy contamination. No big deal :)

Autoscrub on matte (Frozen) clearcoat? Chemical alternatives?

I'll give the Windex a shot. The $35 for 12oz would be fine if it were more than what is likely the equivilant of a generic degreaser. The problem is that there's not much information on it other than "this stuff cleans great!" Thanks for your suggestions and help so far :)

Autoscrub on matte (Frozen) clearcoat? Chemical alternatives?

I have. NANOSKIN flat out doesn't reply, and Beasley's and swisswax just try to sell me their products without much more info beyond what I can read on the bottle. I also don't want to spend over $35 for 12oz of spray on liquid to prep my car without being 100% certain it'll work. By 100%...

Autoscrub on matte (Frozen) clearcoat? Chemical alternatives?

The scary things in that popular BMW frozen paint video are complete and utter nonsense. The frozen paint has been super durable for me. Bird crap never etches and bumper taps wipe away. I use microfiber on it all day long to wash and dry. No issue at all. Of course, be reasonable and dont...

Autoscrub on matte (Frozen) clearcoat? Chemical alternatives?

Can the autoscrub the used on a matte finish? I understand clay is a no-no because it will leave residue, but the autoscrub is a rubber compound, so i'm not sure. I can't really test it on my car because i'd need to cover a large area to see if it's ruining anything. I've contacted nanoskin...

    Smoothing out my matte finish?

well, someone just backed into my bumper and spiderwebbed the paint a few minutes ago. looks like i have a good test canvas now, since it has to be resprayed anyway.

    Smoothing out my matte finish?

So I don't sound totally nuts, here is the thread i was referring to where Mike suggests using scotchbrite to restore a finish (which may work to smooth out my gritty finish) http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/ask-expert-featuring-mike-phillips/90317-restoring-polished-matte-finish.html Not...

    Smoothing out my matte finish?

It was one of those "favor" jobs. It was their first time doing a finish like this. And it would be fun to learn how to work this out myself for future reference.

    Smoothing out my matte finish?

I am going to send BASF an e-mail to see if there is a grit of sandpaper or scotchbrite that can closely match the finish of the clearcoat i used, but i'm really hoping someone here has experience with this :(

    Smoothing out my matte finish?

smooth as in "to the touch," as a proper matte finish should feel. a wet sanded clearcoat can be dull and still feel smooth. taking it back for a respray is the obvious answer, but that's a last resort, hence my post thanks edit: I've read a post or two on this forum about people using...

    Smoothing out my matte finish?

I had my car resprayed with the basf paint system for BMW frozen colors. It has had a month to cure. There are rough patches that almost feel like sandpaper. Visibly, the car looks perfect. No tiger stripes or uneven glossy/dull combo areas. The only problems are some rough patchy areas. My...

    Optimum Opti-Eraser review

so grabby-ness and price aside, it is fair to say it is still a tossup between the 3-4 top clay alternatives? this doesn't bring anything new to the table in terms of real world performance?

    Optimum Opti-Eraser review

hate to bump a 2 week old thread (especially for my first post :bash:), so i apologize in advance. Are these rated the same way as the other clay-alternatives? in other words, black cars should always stick with fine grade unless you plan on polishing? Price aside, does this have any...
