I am tempted to see how long it goes! I usually only have time to take my car to a place where I can detail it (not allowed in my condo building) once a year or so. That is the reason for refreshing the coating now instead of in six months or so.
Hi all, the two coats of Optimum Gloss Coat on my weekend car are about 18 months old. Still beading pretty well. Car has only seen 5k miles in the last 18 months.
If I want to apply two more coats of Gloss Coat this week, should I polish / strip off the old coats first, or can I simply do a...
The new blue foam applicator works well. Especially if you cut off the ends to make it into a rectangle. I actually prefer it to the suede. Plus less hassle of having to buy another applicator and hold the suede on the block during use.
The safest way to start the claying process is to chemically remove as much of the iron contaminants as possible with a product like Car Pro IronX or Optimum Ferrex. Every car is different, but after iron decon as described above, it shouldn't be necessary to use anything but an ultra fine clay...
As long as it doesn't leave behind a slick surface it's fine. With real leather steering wheels often they come out more grippy after all the dirt clogging the pores is removed.
I think spray waxes will work well for you. What I have my dad do for his black BMW is to use Prima Hydro MAX spray sealant as a base coat for protection. Takes 5-10 minutes. You spray it on, wipe it off, like Windex or a quick detailer.
To maintain, after the car is washed but while it is...
Coating will last longer, but obviously more expense. One of my cars is getting the leftover Optimum Gloss coat.
Also picked up Prima Wheel Armour from AG. On sale for $8 I believe. Can't go wrong for that price.
Also look into xpel trac wrap, though I doubt it will be as inexpensive as the 3mspray. On the other hand, it will protect better and be less likely to come off than painters tape.
Mike, Autogeek going to continue to stock Prima products in the future or is this simply to stimulate sales? I really like the Prima spray products, as well as Amigo, but admittedly don't have a chance to use them as often as I'd like.
Not sure either. May need to look more "wet" like in flysti's card.
Apparently this is a brand of ceramic coating. If the card is going to include that logo, it might need to include "Premium Ceramic Paint Treatment" underneath in small white block letters, like they have on their website.
I don't feel so bad for you.
Ages ago, I detailed my parents' black Mercedes for them over the course of two days. Clay, decon, Menzerna Intensive Polish (IP2000) , Menzerna P085RD. Two coats of sealant. Absolutely pristine results. It rained a few days later and my father took the car to...
