Anyone using magic eraser???

They just seem to agressive to me. I could see using them on some lower plastic panels maybe but not on leather or wheels. But I would love to see some before and afters to convince me to use them! a cheap tool that works is always welcome in my detailing box

Way too aggressive for most leather. A diluted solution of APC and water with a microfiber towel to scrub should be enough. Use a lighter APC like Optimum Power Clean or Meguiars D101, NOT something strong like Chemical Guys Grime Reaper.

I only recommend Magic Eraser on burnished leather steering wheels and shift knobs. As with any other product, use with care while scrubbing. Don't use heavy pressure and wail away on the steering wheel.

Magic Eraser is great on stove tops, but not on glossy paint.

These things are the holy grail of cleaning for neglected, soccer-mom mini-van interior jobs.

Do you guys use the Magic Eraser by Mr. Clean brand or buy the "melamine" pads in bulk? I think they are the same thing?

I think the Magic Eraser brand has some sort of chemicals in it.

They foam when you add water and squeeze them.

I use them only as a last resort and then with extreme care. If not really careful, a magic eraser will do damage, dependingeqiv on the finish.

I'm with you....too much possibility of damage....equiv of 3600 grit paper......not for me.....

You are right. According to Proctor & Gamble; none of the Magic Erasers contain any additives, just Melamine Polymer Abrasive Foam.

I looked it up on their site.

I wonder why they foam up?

I also wonder what this means:

"Its water-activated micro-scrubbers reach into the surface grooves, lifting away built up grease and soap scum."

Pinball Forum says it is equivalent to 1500 Grit

Thank you. Nobody seems to believe me when they are very abrasive. After my girlfriend used one on her jeep on the back bumper I quickly realized how much damage they can do.
