This weekend marks the move into 2020 Detailing season for me as I took a few months off to rest and enjoy the holidays.

A second owner vehicle in the current owners possession for nearly 3yrs now, this beauty has been in need of a good once-over since he's owned it. Featured in Pure black which shows everything it was his desire to have it compounded and polished to near perfection without chasing the RIDS too much. Good call and the results I think turned out great.

Process & Products:

  • Wash/Decon'd
  • Flex 3401 with Lake Country Purple Wool Pads and CarPro Clear Cut with just a touch of HDOne to extend the working time and cut down dramatically on dusting
  • Flex 3401 and Green Hexlogic Pads with CarPro Essence Polish
  • CarPro Cquartz UK v3.0
  • GYEON Q2 RIM for Wheels
  • GYEON Q2 TRIM for the plastic cowling and rear valance
  • Megs Hyperdressing on tires

Onto the pics!

BEFORE: Lifeless, dull and loaded with swirls and RIDS

Excellent work Tom, looks great now. I too, love this wagon! Owner should be thrilled with the results!

Thats one slick wagon! I've been away from here for a bit, but I see you are still the king of making black beautiful. Truth be told I still miss seeing pictures of your Audi!

I miss her too. Honestly however, pure black is such a PIA to keep perfect that doing this MBZ brought back the dread of keeping it so. Not sure what car I'll have next but pure black is not an option again. I needed a break and my current metallic is difficult enough. :)

I do miss ripping off low 11's though. She moved out so well off the line is was a blast. On the street as a daily driver she embarrassed a lot of cars. The RS3 is an option but I'm not sure I would enjoy a smaller car but they are just as fast or even faster with just a simple tune and down pipes.

This is one of my favorite pics of her. I remember cleaning her up that day and how perfect the paint was.

LOL hijacking my own thread :)

Great work as usual. I'm not a fan at all of wagons but that one sure looks sharp.

The car looks great!

I'm a huge fan of wagons and more so the "super" wagons like the E63 AMG or the RS6 Avant. They are my dream family hauler/road trip vehicle.

I've always loved the Mercedes Benz Sport Wagons. This one looks amazing.

Keep up the great work.

Talk about a wolf in sheep's clothing! Excellent work! Did the 3D One help the ClearCut finish down any further in your opinion?

I find ClearCut finishes down great alone. I mainly used it to cut down dusting as when used with Wool, ClearCut can make a fair amount. It worked and did cut that down. 3 small drops off Clear Cut and one of 3D One.
