I was scrolling through some shorts on youtube right now when some video of a professional detailer came on, pro shop setup so you’d be safe to assume the guy knows what the heck he’s doing by now…

But because he didn’t rinse off that foam he sprayed with the cannon like ole Ivan says you must do and foam Twice, you suddenly have an army of noobs trying to tell a professional detailer that he’s a hack and needs to learn how to properly wash a car because he’s ruining the paintwork.

This herd of sheep could’ve only learned this load of nonsense from 1 source, the gospel teachings of Ivan, where things are made up on the fly with the goal of selling more overpriced car soap so it helps sales if his herd learns they need to foam a car Twice everytime. Smh.

I can’t believe people actually believe that crap is suddenly a necessary step in order to prevent swirls. 1 of those guys even went as far as saying that’s how holograms are created. Lol.

Meanwhile, when asked if he can prove his silly theory, this is the response he gives. Smh.

Btw, he’s now claiming that water spots are apparently not an issue at all when it comes to washing a vehicle in direct sunlight. So I guess product labels have been wasting our time all these years advising us to wash out of direct sunlight.

And detailers that buy deionized water are just wasting their money because they must be stupid and have been for decades now that Ivan says washing in direct sunlight isn’t a problem afterall because he doesn’t sell deionized water so why should he recommend it if there’s no profit in it for him?

Foam twice, never heard that one, is that an "Ivan-ism"

Yes, because you must have foam on the paint prior to rinsing it with a power washer or else you’ll instill swirls. And you must have foam prior to using your wash mitt, therefore you must foam Twice. Use twice as much of my $100 dollar per gallon car soap.

Sure that's a saying...foam twice, cut once. Oh wait, that was measure twice, cut once.

Which somehow reminds me of the outtakes at the end of Horrible Bosses where Jason Sudeikis says "I wouldn't mind bending her over a barrel and showing her the 50 states" and Jason Bateman says that's not a saying, and Sudeikis says, yes it is, it's from a movie, and Bateman says no, it's not, and Sudeikis says "well, it is now" and looks at the camera and winks.

And I just have to add, look at the bright side, at least people are being extra careful washing their car.

Yea but do we really need people going around telling others that rinsing their vehicle causes swirls?

That’s worse than people warning others not to use APC to clean carpets because it’ll somehow wind up cleaning the soles of your shoes and re soiling the carpets… Has that ever actually happened irl? I’ve never witnessed that phenomenon and my carpets have been light beige for the past 10yrs. and they stay clean. I use an extractor nowadays but prior to that I used cotton terry towels and never “rinsed” anything and never had an issue.

IPA seemed to work just fine for decades until someone decided we needed “panel prep” and it costs 20x more than IPA you can mix yourself and that panel prep can’t even remove most spray waxes.

People can’t dry their cars without a “drying aid” these days…

Nozzle guards?

And God forbid you say Roopes because you’ll lose all respect. Eff that, people who go out of their way to say Roo pez lose my respect. Lol.

For a second I thought this thread might be about something else, but then remembered it's a detailing forum only lol.

Misinformation is the theme for 2025 in general, but I digress.

Geez and to think we used the two bucket wash method for like ever. Now you have to foam twice or you are a hack. Wow how we have changed...
The only time I've foamed twice is when using the Labocosmetica 3pH carwash system, per Crack's suggestion and it worked great, I could "see the clean"

Yeah Ivan and his "traditional carwash is so 20th century" years ago to promote his RW and rinseless wash method in general was just clown college! Both of these systems have their place, no doubt but one things for sure, you'll always need both

Not saying he's actually done that, but maybe his "chrome dome"

I was behind a guy in the queue at the supermarket once, and it was very obvious he waxed his bald head, so obvious I could see the reflections of all the flourescent lights in it.
Wonder what LSP he used

In my experience, prerinsing with a hose seems to dislodge some of the contaminants from the paint. IMO that's key. To foam or not to foam, that is the question.

The guy has wild skills. May be looking at something different.

Foam-rinse-foamer here and it’s my preferred method when doing a deep clean but I started doing that before I came across DIY’s content. I just prefer to foam a second time because I like to have the soap on the vehicle and just one bucket for rinsing. Makes me more efficient and cuts down my washing time. And foaming is fun.

My two cents is that as long as your method gets you the results you desire, more power to you but there’s no need to criticize others that have a different way of arriving at the same destination.
