Hi all,

I now have two white cars that need to be coated. A 2025 GTI in Opal white pearl, and a 2023 vw GLI in the more standard white. I know white isnt the most responsive color to coatings, but I know that the right paint protection will add a glass look, and others silky. I know there are a ton of great coatings on the market, but its hard to find examples of them on White cars. A few things I care about in order: Appearance (gloss, sheen etc), ease of application (probably installing in a storage unit with less than ideal light, slickness, durability, and hydrophobics. Also something where a single bottle can do both cars would be great. Please give me your input based on what you have seen and used.

A few coatings I have in mind: (not in order)

ADS quartz (again, though I couldnt see the "ready" tell on a tan car, no way i will on white)
Adams Graphene
ADS phobic
Ethos v2
Wolfgang profi
Gyeon Pure
Gyeon Can coat (i have this on a shelf, but I dont think it is going to do what i want)
KCX ceramic all around.

I think Mohs EVO looks pretty good on our white pearl MDX. I found CQuartz UK 3.0 looked really good on a BMW in Apline White. As with any color, giving the surface a good polish and making sure its as defect free as possible goes a long way to making it look good.

Thanks for the feedback. I should mention that I plan to Polish using Koch Chemie m302 and likely a yellow rupes pad. I was very happy with it on my maverick. I know its different paint, but the GTI is basically defect free, and the GLI has been very well cared for, just a few water spots and swirls near the door handles. Those cars wont see a coating until the paint is as close to perfect as i can manage. The plan is to rent a storage unit so I can take my time on the paint. (they will also get the works, decon, iron, clay, prep etc.)

Of those you have listed, i have used gyeon pure evo, can coat evo and ADS quartz on white vehicles, all with no isses. My personal vote off your list would ADS quartz. You need to be able to feel when its ready to wipe off for the current conditions at the time. Typically for me its 30 seconds.

Phobic is an easy peasy choice, but is not as durable as quartz in my opionion.

Have you used both Phobic and quartz? If so, what was your impression on appearance differences? One big gripe with quartz is not being able to tell how much is left in the bottle.

To me, white is both easy and hard. It’s easy to gloss up but hard to get ultimate shine. Pretty much anything will work for state one and it will take some one with more experience than I

Yes i have used both, but i have not yet used phobic on white. Honestly, you are not going to see a drastic difference in appearance between the two with the naked eye. As you know its more about the prep before hand.

The quartz bottle does suck but thats my only complaint honestly.

In my opinion main choice between quartz and phobic comes down to durability, and then secondly ease of application. While quartz is very easy to use, phobic is in my opinion almost like appliying a ceramic spray sealant. Wipe on, wipe right back off. But its not quite as durable, especially when it comes to its ability to withstand constant abuse to high ph levels.

Oh and purchase extra sprayers if you go with phobic. After one use its junk, even if you try to clean it out right after.

Thanks for the feedback! I am honestly debating between Phobic, and going full send with Gyeon Syncro. I applied Blue Collar 5 (or whatever there 3 year coating is) to my GLI and it was dead in 6 months in most places on the car. I am not above a good base coat and using a spray sealant every month or so.

I know nothing about syncro or blue collar. If you have not already, look up the guz on here or on the tube about syncro.

I will say that since you have 2 vehicles to do, if you use phobic..just keep it in the fridge and it will last longer than they say. I first opened my bottle in october 2024 and have used it 4 times thus far. Last time was april and it was still useable. Just started to notice quicker flash times than before, but weather conditions could have been a factor as well

You could put all the coatings you listed side by side on white paint and it will be hard to discern any differences between them when it comes to appearance. Take it from someone who has owns a white car.

One benefit the Adams coating has is the UV tracer which allows you to see that the surface has been coated or any missed areas.

With regards to Syncro. I would skip it. I would choose Mohs over it.

Phobic or CanCoat would be your best options if you are looking to coat two cars as both come in larger quantities. Adams would be next with a 60 ml bottle. Ethos can be purchased in a 50 ml bottle. If you are proficient with coating applications you could stretch out a 50 or 60 ml bottle for two smaller cars.

@Coatingsarecrack might be of help. He has a white Camaro that looks the part.

I actually haven’t coated the Camaro as i need some PDR and front bumper painted. Been playing around with sealants.

That being said i do have Gyeon pure waiting in the wings as all research I’ve done leads to it being more glossy and adding gloss to white compared to say Mohs Evo….

How do you feel about Phobic vs Gyeon can Coat?

Honestly at this point ill just use the Gyeon Can coat and find something I like to top it with. I am doing my new GTI, the GLI, and probably my fiances white corolla, and maybe my friends silver audi wagon. I opened the Can coat about a week ago to coat some floor mats, and given it has ~ a year shelf life, i better get to using it.

PS if you have suggestions for a high gloss topper .... Ive tried P&S beadmaker and its fine, but id like something that lasts at least a month.

Phobic is slick and can coat is not. Personally i have an easier time applying phobic compared to can coat. I have 2 black vehicles and i struggle with those to not have streaks with can coat.

But from a durability or longevity standpoint, i have not been running phobic long enough to say if it will stand up to can coat

One coating that gets lost in the mix is cquartz lite. Wipe on and wipe off. It is not that slick though. More of a smooth sensation. Comes in a large offering and can always be topped with Gliss if slickness is important. If not then ADS Phobic would be my choice if slickness is a top priority. My results with phobic have been mixed from the bottle the guys at ADS sent me.

Carpro Reload 2.0, or even Gyeon Cure will give you that gloss boost, while also improving slickness that is often missing from coatings. I would also put ADS Amplify into the mix. Adam's Slick & Slide would be a solid option too.

This is Gyeon Pure EVO topped with Cure on flat white................................

Decision Paralysis in detailing is real. I was all set to go with Can coat until streaks were mentioned. I can live with a little streaking If im doing a coating for a friend, but not something ill look at daily. I wish I knew how much Quartz I have left.

Whats the difference between cure and their ceramic detail spray? I figure Can coat followed ceramic detail or cure, should give me gloss and slickness.

Dont go off of my word only. I think i was using to much. The guz told me before that i was probly using to much if it streaks on me. So i dialed it back and results were better but i still just didnt trust it or myself on black. Then phobic came out and i liked that it was slick and the user experience was better for me so i stuck with that so far over can coat.

Cure works good on lighter colors. Had to cut it 1/1 with water so it wouldnt streak so bad. On black. Ita a known issue with cure.

Only things ive found so far that dont streak for me is
PA cosmic spritz
ADS amplify
ADS ceramic spray sealant
Labocosmetica perfecta si02

Remember you have white paint so you will never see streaks anyway
