So the guy I used to do the podcast with is selling one of his cars, this rare 1953 Bristol and he asked me to come out and get it ready for sale

It was a pretty straightforward job:

Tires & Wheels
-------------

-Griot's Garage 3 in 1 Tire/Wheel/Mat Cleaner

-CarPro Darkside

-Mother's Tire and Wheel brush

Carwash
--------

-Carbon Collective RW

LSP
----

-Zaino Z-CS

So I started with the tires & wheels, chose this because it does multiple things I needed done, did a great job but these tires still looked old after cleaning, kinda odd

Next up was the RW, Carbon Collective RW, one of the 2 strongest RW I've ever used and although I didn't a "before and after" of the buckets the car was just a little dusty and it STILL pulled out dirt from the Bristols body

I then finished up by using an old school product, I mean the car is old school after all, LOL. I chose Zaino Z-CS because of its ease of use, although, because of the humidity, I had to buff it afterwards, normally you don't have to...no worries, it came out nice

I did try some Meg's Ultimate Compound on "spots" but because it's not basecoat clear coat, I removed paint, by hand and decided it just wasn't worth it. The paint has cracks and blemishes so it's not going to ever be perfect, even with a R.O. and slower speed, the paint just isn't great here

I also added 2x's CarPro Darkside and it gave the Bristol's tires a nice, natrual lookin' sheen...perfect🤌

These pics are from the after Carbon Collective RW, the next pics will be AFTER applying Zaino Z-CS, stay "tuned"

After Zaino Z-CS & CarPro Darkside. I didn't keep track of time but I'd say 2 hrs, maybe a bit more, from start to finish. He offered me $200 for the job, I had over an hour drive 1 way to get there, so round trip about 2 hrs 20 minutes

This is a great car to just get in and drive, paint isn't perfect but it's so rare and unique that it will deliver it's next owner lots of enjoyment, no doubt about it

The Bristol came up very nice, such an interesting shape, I find the proportions are just a little bit off. But it's still very cool. The shape would be a joy to work on though.
I agree 100% Dave, the proportions are odd for sure and yes, the shape was really fun the clean for sure

The roofline is a bit like the early E-Type Jags, which always seemed a bit off to me.

I think it's more like the MKIII E-types (71-74), they were 2+2's
I guess you're right that I'm thinking of the 2+2, but they made them in the 60's also. I'm thinking about the ones that look like the one pictured here; they don't say what year: https://www.hagerty.co.uk/articles/...-e-type-the-most-overhyped-car-britain-built/

All this reminds me of a Jaguar story I had forgotten about...the first time I went 100 mph in a car. When I was in high school I had a friend who was in my class but older and had started driving way earlier than the rest of us. For some reason he had befriended a kid who was one or two classes behind us. Said kid told my friend that his father had an old Jag that we should take for a drive.

So the kid's parents are out or away, it's a Friday night, the car is in a detached garage, we (my driving friend, me, and another guy) pick up the kid, he tells the housekeeper that's watching the kids he's going out for a bit with some friends. We drive around the corner and park, walk back, open the garage, push the E-Type out of the garage, down the driveway, and down the street.

My friend starts it up, I wind up scrunched in the back seat (? I can't even remember if there was a seat or a cargo shelf) with the son of the owner, and we drive around for an hour or so, including out on the highway to 100 mph. Brought it back, turned it off up the street, pushed it back into the garage...crazy. The things you did when you were a kid.
