Anyone have one?
How are they at polishing wheels?
That is what they seem to be made for and it gets good reviews. I have an electric drill and wouldn't mind getting more use out of it with a gadget like this powerball....IF it works.

My wheels are 8 spoked American Racing ATX Assault wheels with lots of nooks and crannies. I washed and waxed them the other day for the first time with Griot's green wheel cleaner and some scrubbing and then I put on the poorboys. That pb wheel sealant stuff is nice. The Griot's bottle emptied fast spraying the tires and wheels. About 1/4 gone. I will get Mother's All wheel and tire spray next. The Poorboys was a nice product to use and came off easily with a mf.

But a powerball would be fun and maybe a bit easier.
Do you like them? Thoughts?

I just used the Mothers Ball for the first time this weekend and i was quite impress with it. It can also be used to polish your car if you don"t have a traditional buffer. BJ

If you have lots of nooks and crannies, consider either the PowerBall Mini or the PowerCone.

love both sizes but use the small cone a ton more. just spread the heck out of the product before starting the drill. just wish they were cheaper or a bogo item. been using them for years now. had the first one ever in oregon i was told.

The Power Cone would probably be best for wheels, I know that is what I use mine for and it works great for that purpose !! Bright and shiney just the way you would want them!!

I have all three and love them all, the mini is still my personal favorite. Their aluminum and billet polishes are great too.

I just purchased the larger Mothers Powerball 4Paint.

I'm a little worried my craftsman drill won't have enough oomph to move the bigger ball--

What drills are you guys using?

Well I'd like to get one.

Should I get the mini PB or the cone PB for wheels?
Which ones is better?

It depends on the rim shape, and the openings.

If you have numerous small openings (particularly long thin ones, like a split spoke style), get the PowerCone. The cone also works very well on rims that have spokes that meet the hoop at a 90º angle, since round balls don't go into square corners very well.
If this is your rim:

ATX Assault Chrome Plated

I'd suggest the cone because of all the split spokes.

I bought the mini about a year ago, only got a chance to use it once or twice so far but worked great. The rims i worked on were pretty bad (someone had sprayed blech white on the RIMS and didnt spray it off)...really bad spots that just DIDNT come off for anything...

I used some vinegar with a soft toothbrush first and then used the mini with Mothers polish and they came out great...no spots...great shine...I didnt have any small spokes to deal with but there were about 5 triagle shaped cut outs in each rim and the Mini reached in no problem.

At the time I had a Firestorm (black and decker) corded drill...like 7 amps i think, worked with no problems. Ive since upped to a ridged corded and i know it would handle it:buffing:...

I think any CORDED drill would work no problem with the mini...i dont think it takes a LOT of pressure to poslish rims at all...so as long as the thing turns you'll be ok...now as far as battery drills...I dont really know cause i've never used one...but if you know your drill well enough you could probably gauge whether or not it could handle it...

We don't recommend a corded drill with a PowerBall as their excessive torque can core the foam (cut the center section out), and honestly, you don't need the speed. 300 rpm is more than enough with a drill - it's still much faster than your hand can move.

:buffing:I personally use the Dewalt 18 volt it really gets the job done without any issues what so ever! I use the POWER CONE all the time on wheels and it works great also! Good luck!:hotrod2::hotrod2:

Yeah i'm aware that it could mess the ball up if your not careful. I was ok with it because i never amped it up to full speed or used any excessive pressure....so IME..I had no problems with a corded one.

I just got a 14 V Black and Decker. It comes with a black canvas bag and two batteries/wall charger for like $59 or so.
It is very light weight and easy to handle. It was the nicest small cordless drill at Home Depot I found for the purpose of polishing wheels. It is a very nice drill so far. I bought it to customize the interior of a new AWD 2010 Savana and I have used it to drill into metal walls and screw a panel to the walls of the van.

I will try a Power Cone for it.

I bought so0me Autogeek Wool balls that I am returning tomorrow. I want my $$$ back as they suck and I want to try a PB cone on my wheels since I have a cordless drill.

I picked up a Power Cone at Summit Racing and I was wondering about using it.

Do you just use it to apply wheel polishes or is it used to remove/buff off the wheel polish?

Well with my powerball mini i use it to apply the polish. I usually just dip it into whatever polish I'm using or if its getting low i'll use a cloth to spread it onto the wheel surface...and use the powerball to spread it around (kinda like when your buffing on paint) and then just work it in with the powerball.

Mothers makes some pretty good wheel polishes for a decent price. I'm quite pleased with their aluminum/mag polsih. Used them last night on some REAL bad alum. rims and it brought them back quite nice. Granted it took a couple of applications and a good amount of work in time...but they were in HORRIBLE shape. I'll try to get some pics up here soon...but yeah back to your question..use it to work in the polish, then wipe it clean with a MF :)

I have used the power cone to polish chrome wheels. I drizzle the chrome polish on the cone and then just work it over the wheel. Depending on your drill power, you obviously need to be careful about sling.

Cleaning with Dawn but now use Optimum Power Clean.

All of the PowerBall products are designed for product application.

Removal would be with a quality microfiber for best results. Remember not to let the Mag & Aluminum (or Billet Metal) Polish dry on the surface.
