  • Oh after 2 weeks of switching the BG Product ATF to the Valvoline AFT has made a big difference.. van is running smoother and shifting cleaner...
I've decided to hold off on having the shop install the new monroe struts as this would be more in depth to install. I just need the ball joint placed back in the socket for now, but may have him do an oil change back to the Motul just to get rid of that crappy Castrol oil..
For instance, goto google play and search for navigation aps. I can bet that everyone of them has ads or spam crap that has nothing to do with the travel ap.. all those ap developers sold out to these ad sites..
Yesterday, located an offline navigation ap for our cell phone.. wish it was designed for the tablet, but seem to be working without all the ads We checked things like the Garmin tablet. But for almost 900.00 not going to do that anytime soon. Currently downloading the entire USA maps.. which is going to take several hours to complete.
nervous but excited to have the front end checked and adjusted by a new shop. I spoke with the shop owner and he said "you sound like an ex-mechanic" I told him, once upon a time..
Speak My Mind.. while on reddit and other sites, I noticed that everyone is calling the Parade is for trump, this parade isn't or wasn't about Trump it's about the "250th Anniversary of the U.S. Army Grand Military Parade", trump's birthday just happen to be on the same date.. Fake lopsided news tring to place trump in a bad light. "FactCheck"
Again this all happen while driving to PA then driving to western MD.. we hit a hump in the road which dislodged the control arm ball joint.. basically, it's just resting in the socket without being fastened down. We have 2 weeks' to get this repaired before we have to leave to parts unknown for 1 month paid vacation.
I'm almost 98% sure that if the clip is removed from the passenger side and the ball joint placed back into the socket, then tighten the bolt we should be good to go. However the shops said while they are work in those area, they'll go ahead and replace the old Bilstein struts with the Monroe struts..
Can't risk driving the van today as this morning drove to the store and the front end is knocking too bad.. will have to park it till 9 Am when I drive 6 blocks to the shop for what should be a simple repair, but one I can't do myself. The drivers side doesn't have a metal clip but we've never had and issue with this setup.

Just discovered & I don't have a clue why I overlooked this.. but the driver side ball joint/knuckle doesn't have this clip. while the passenger side (the ball joint is knocking) has a clip. The shop needs to remove the bolt, clip, then force the ball joint back into its socket & torque the bolt back into place.. the "clip" is also a spacer of sorts.

it's going to be a careful drive tomorrow till this is fixed cause I've already had to deal with the other side losing a bolt allowing the ball joint to fall completely out.. it's so hard finding good help these days.. will have to replace the torque bolt as this is as tight as it gets and isn't retaining the ball joint.

Too big of a gap between the ball joint boot and the lower knuckle.. Hoping the shop will leave the van on the ground, Loosen the torque bolt or completely remove the bolt. then using a floor jack placed under the control arm and force the ball joint back up into the seat. Then replace the bolt and tighten. If this doesn't work, New control arms will be needed.
As part of my continuing "You Can't Make This Sh!t Up" thread.. in order to get away from this madness of the past few days.. the wife and I drove to PA then to Antietam Battlefield.. but along the way.. we hit a bump in the road and the front passenger side now has a knocking.. we've isolated the knocking to the lower control arm ball joint.. hoping to have this fixed at a new shop Mon..
As part of my continuing "You Can't Make This Sh!t Up" thread.. the shop installed our new GodSpeed incorrectly and after a 10 min drive I could tell they were installed wrong.. went back to the shop and the shop manager said the earliest we can fit you is in 2 weeks.. I told him, I'm not leaving until this was correct.. he took my van in right way & corrected the mistake.
With the disastrous day yesterday. I've given up on finding good powder coater or the color that best matched the hyper silver. So today we're taking a small trip to anywhere USA just to get away till our big trip next month.
Well now.. As part of my continuing "You Can't Make This Sh!t Up" thread.. took the newly powder coated wheel to the tire shop all went well tire and new stem went on.. then drove to the cars wash and car wash I've used for years and this happen.. needless to say.. I'm pissed..

Just got a text from the wife after she seen the newly powder coated wheel. she want me to go head and grab a tire from our basement stock and have it mounted with the rubber stems.. So i'll prob be leaving shortly to have that done. Not how I wanted it to e done.. but 1 wheel is better than no wheels..
Stopped my meinke to check if the Dr was in the house.. he wasn't and glad I checked he wont be there till next sat.. all that leaves is the GodSpeed end links to install this Sat then we're off to PA and western MD..
