Also, the tech notice that the sway bar was hitting the pinch seam along the engine area.. he adjusted the end link from 11.00 inches to 11.50 inches..
So now we know what's making the knocking sound cause we've had that knocking sound since Sept of last year.. everywhere we took the van, no one could isolate where it was coming from. The other techs never replaced the strut mounts even after I gave them new mounts..
As part of my continuing "You Can't Make This Sh!t Up" thread.. major discovery this morning while at the shop.. remember when I said we hit something in the road while in PA.. turns out the shop tech spotted the isuse, one of the "other shops" never replaced the failing strut tower mounts and the coil spring is poking through thus making the knocking sound..
Then after tomorrow we should know more about what (if anything) needs to be done about the wife's liver.. she had a biopsy 5 weeks ago and test results just came back. Then give work our dates off and let's hit the road. This will be the first time in more than 20 years leaving during late spring to go somewhere.
The wife is telling me to trust my gut feeling.. so I did, we're not going to have the struts replaced this morning.. just having the shop repair the ball joint to knuckle socket. then have the oil changed.. we're doing this just to see how well the new shop works. Once we deem this a success have to locate another wheel shop to get a second option on balancing the front wheels.
I've decided to hold off on having the shop install the new monroe struts as this would be more in depth to install. I just need the ball joint placed back in the socket for now, but may have him do an oil change back to the Motul just to get rid of that crappy Castrol oil..
For instance, goto google play and search for navigation aps. I can bet that everyone of them has ads or spam crap that has nothing to do with the travel ap.. all those ap developers sold out to these ad sites..
Yesterday, located an offline navigation ap for our cell phone.. wish it was designed for the tablet, but seem to be working without all the ads We checked things like the Garmin tablet. But for almost 900.00 not going to do that anytime soon. Currently downloading the entire USA maps.. which is going to take several hours to complete.
nervous but excited to have the front end checked and adjusted by a new shop. I spoke with the shop owner and he said "you sound like an ex-mechanic" I told him, once upon a time..
Speak My Mind.. while on reddit and other sites, I noticed that everyone is calling the Parade is for trump, this parade isn't or wasn't about Trump it's about the "250th Anniversary of the U.S. Army Grand Military Parade", trump's birthday just happen to be on the same date.. Fake lopsided news tring to place trump in a bad light. "FactCheck"
Again this all happen while driving to PA then driving to western MD.. we hit a hump in the road which dislodged the control arm ball joint.. basically, it's just resting in the socket without being fastened down. We have 2 weeks' to get this repaired before we have to leave to parts unknown for 1 month paid vacation.
I'm almost 98% sure that if the clip is removed from the passenger side and the ball joint placed back into the socket, then tighten the bolt we should be good to go. However the shops said while they are work in those area, they'll go ahead and replace the old Bilstein struts with the Monroe struts..
Can't risk driving the van today as this morning drove to the store and the front end is knocking too bad.. will have to park it till 9 Am when I drive 6 blocks to the shop for what should be a simple repair, but one I can't do myself. The drivers side doesn't have a metal clip but we've never had and issue with this setup.
Just discovered & I don't have a clue why I overlooked this.. but the driver side ball joint/knuckle doesn't have this clip. while the passenger side (the ball joint is knocking) has a clip. The shop needs to remove the bolt, clip, then force the ball joint back into its socket & torque the bolt back into place.. the "clip" is also a spacer of sorts.
