It is completely fine to use Opti Coat on the inside part of the wheel. The inner barrel isn't that much surface area so you won't have to use a ton of extra product. In my opinion it is definitely worth coating the barrel.

My recommendation would be to go with the Wolfgang Twins. Make sure you have some orange, white, black, and blue pads. Preferably 5.5 inch pads. After each wash is when I use a spray wax or sealant. Doing this will increase the durability of the base coat of protection and you won't have to seal or wax your car as much.

The V7 seems to be a spray sealant. So it does have protective properties.
