    Optimum Tire Protection Coating (TPC)

My rule of thumb is: Only switch product when the previous one is empty. Otherwise you will end up for 50 bottles of stuff all doing the same thing and some of them going bad before you can used them.

    Optimum Tire Protection Coating (TPC)

Hum... I did not use much product at all so far. I use a foam applicator for tire dressing, make a line of product along the long axis. Probably used about half an ounce to do 4 tires. I did not get the drying effect while applying. So my guess is yes, you did not use enough.

I tried your method using a microfiber cutting pad (Meguiars) instead of the wool pad and a Lake Country HDO Polishing pad (orange) instead of the finishing pad. It came out nice but I don't know if it was better than simply using a HDO Cutting pad (blue) for a longer time.... I would have to...

Are there any foods that you don't like or care for?

I hate coffee too. As a matter of fact, I tend to stay away from anything that : "you need to develop a taste for".... if it tasted good, you would not have to do that ;)

New mid engine Corvette. July 18th.

I think it's simply a matter of numbers. Car makers sell very little manual transmission cars compared to automatics. I saw the numbers last year, don't quote me on specifics but in the USA it was something like 95% of the car sold were automatic... so with almost no demand, they can't justify...

Which to use to prep for Gtechniq CSL?

If you have both, Gtechniq Panel Wipe is definatelly the one I would use. This thing works better than eraser. As for the polish, the only thing I can tell you is: Do test spots until you are satisfied with the result then do the whole car that way.

My windshield is driving me crazy

You could also take the opportunity to coat your windshield. Something like Aquapel or McKee's glass coating make maintaining the windshield easier. Glad you resolved the issue.

That is the goal of every company, just put a doubt in your mind so you go: "Well, might as well follow the directions to the letter". It's nothing new, if you take cook books for 1930, they will list ingrediants by brand: Put 1 cup of "our company" butter. I think any butter would do nicelly...

DON'T USE PAINT THINNER! Paint thinner can damage the clearcoat on your wheels. What you need to use is Lacquer Thinner or Mineral Spirit. Both are strong solvents and are not gonna damage your paint.

I have not experienced that so far with the product. Not sure what to tell you. I can't remember off hand how to strip it off the tire but you can do it with some chemical... maybe reach out to Optimum to ask them how. Coatings need a prefectly clean surface, you can't put it on if something...

    Optimum Tire Protection Coating (TPC)

A manufacturer saying only their cleaning product can prep a suface for their finishing product... where have I heard that before? :) I used other products to prep my tire and it went on smoothly afterwards. As long as the tire is completelly clean, what cleaner you used should have no impact...

You are using in the same way I did except for the following: 1) I work outside 90% of the time. Usually in the sun. 2) I don't use wool pads, for 3D One I usually use a Lake Country HDO (either blue or orange) pad on almost the same machine you do: Griot's Boss G15. 3) I work half a panel at...

Time lapse paint correction with 3D ONE

The last time I used speed (which will be the last time period for me), I wiped it dry and the panel was still oily, I wiped it with ONR and the panel was still oily, then I wiped it with undiluted Optimum Power Clean and the panel was still oily, then I used Duplicolor Grease and wax removers...

Does Tar-X strip wax and sealant?

You can add Iron removers to that list too. And safe way to go about it.

Does Tar-X strip wax and sealant?

Anytime you are using a solvent, if it doesn't completelly remove the wax or sealant, it will at the very least remove most of it. I haven't looked at the ingrediants for Tar-X, but I am pretty sure it's an Hydrocarbon of some sort. Anything that can remove glue often is.

Interesting way of doing a one step... Well... it's really a 1.5 step ;) Not having to wipe between the first and second step does save a lot of time. I might have to give this a try. How long does it take you to do a whole vehicle (say a midsize car) using that technique? I won't be...
