A different way of evaluating a wax and sealant product?

You're on to something here buddy. You also want your sealant resistant to oils as most grime that sticks and is harder to clean is oily. Throw in protection again water spots, bird bombs, and bugs. Personally I use water beading as a judge of "yes my LSP is still there," not a means to an end...

advancement in sealants and wax's for water spotting

But think what a cool, novel, contrary idea this would be for a boutique brand to take on. Start with a water-sheeting, oil-repelling, sealant that is still incredibly slick and shiny. Pair it with a branded snowfoam and demonstrate how the solution is able to stick to the paint, dwell, and...

advancement in sealants and wax's for water spotting

Not speaking for Meguiar's past but I think it should bead oil. We should all be putting Crisco in our spray bottles and taking pictures of that  My guess is it was a "change your oil every 3000 miles" type situation vs clear visual indicator. You reapplied at regular intervals and...

advancement in sealants and wax's for water spotting

I know we've had this discussion before, but I think it's great to revisit every once in awhile. Mike I know you posted almost the exact same thing back in 2013 (post #51 of the thread "Re: Why the hype about water beading?"). I don't blame you or anyone else for posting pictures of water...

Okay why has everyone been keeping the Jescar Power Lock Plus a secret from me?

How's this stuff do against bugs & water spots? I've been on a WOWA/Si02 kick recently and while these have great water behavior I'm starting to wonder if a traditional sealant may do better against the former...

advancement in sealants and wax's for water spotting

I think you need an LSP that sheets water, i.e. is hydrophilic, where the water lays down and stick to the paint instead of beads. Nobody would buy this though because it would "look" like the protection wasn't working (because people judge protection by beading). I'm one of the very few that...

I think you'll get a lot of different answers here! For me it's Uber rinseless @ 3 oz/gal

    Prediction - More one-step Cleaner/Coatings or Primers

Re: Prediction - More one-step cleaner/COATINGS or CCAIOS i.e. Ceramic Coating All-in-One type products I'm a big fan of AIO's. But one of the benefits is being able to polish, wipe, and walk away with some protection. If you have to "top" these with a coating I don't see a huge benefit over...

    Sealant comparison

Didn't we touch on this in the Panel wipe and sealant thread? I think there's a *chance* N-914 could leave a residue on sealants without a rinse.

    Sealant comparison

You got it! I think oily grime is what really makes gunk stick to the paint.

    Sealant comparison

This is awesome you're keeping this going. Could you do a weird test for me? Could you put a couple drops of oil on some of them to see if they're oleophobic? Truth is that's really what I want in a sealant. Obviously not asking to see if it sheets oil just to see if the drop kinda beads or lays...

The daily with CQUK 3.0 + Gliss V1

Thanks for doing this test! There's no plan to top any of these reload, correct? What's the difference between CQTi02 and CQUK3.0? I still refuse to believe that a "coating prep wash" stripped a coating. In my opinion if it's safe enough you can mix it in a bucket and put your hand in it then...

    collinite 845 Over Ceramic Coating?

I try not to judge the quality of a sealant on its viscosity, same deal with shampoos. I do agree with the light cleaning of these waxes, I think is somewhat from rubbing them into the paint when applying.

    Interior cleaner protectant

Don't forget about poorboy's natural look, light scent, and finishes pretty matte. It's fairly viscous; I find it applies a little better using a foam applicator rather than spraying a microfiber.

    Wax and water spots question..

Just realized there is a typo in the original quote above, corrected in bold below. So the moral of the story is my ideal LSP would -Sheet water (hydrophillic) -Bead oil (oleophobic) -And turn bright pink to tell me when it was time to reapply

Let me dig up a post on this topic, I find it a good one to revisit once in awhile. Go to the actual thread see the diagram.

Need to restock some sealant---Is there any WOWO sealant with 1 year durability?

This is the one thing I go back and forth on. My ego tells me that because a WOWO is a thick cream, feels substantial, needs to haze, and takes work to apply and remove that it's going to last longer. But at the end of the day both WOWO and WOWA sealants leave very thin layers of protection. And...
