I don't. But I also don't feel I have to using Optimum polishes. I don't get any hop from drying out using Optimum. Polishes that dry quicker may benefit from a mist of QD on the pad. At least in my experience.

I only tape when using the rotary. I've never done any damage with the PC. You can use the UDM for every stage of polishing. But I have read that some aggressive compounds may not break down properly due to the lack of heat generated by a random orbital

No matter whether it's clear coated or single stage, the polishing procedure should be the same. So no worries about doing something wrong. You'll know for sure by looking at your polish pad after doing a pass. If the pad begins turning the color of your paint it's a single stage finish...

Really sorry to hear of your accident, Toto. But glad to hear you're doing ok. I had almost the exact type of accident a few years back.

I've been using a BHB for a couple months now. I really like it. It covers a wide area and rinses clean very easily. Also appears to be very gentle on the paint as I've noticed no wash-induced marring with it. I was using a sea sponge before the BHB and greatly prefer the BHB.

For cleaning leather 303 APC dilluted has worked well for me. For protecting I like Pinnacle, 4* & 303 protectant.

I also use them for savings. Happy with them.

In my personal experience, yes, this has been the case. When I use a more agressive pad/polish combo, I frequently get some holograms. But doing a final pass at moderate to slow RPM using a light/finish pad and a finishing polish clears them up.

Same. I sometimes wonder why I bother doing a foam gun BHB wash on a car that's already covered in swirls. Great work.

Thanks everyone. Yes. On all the Bimmers I've worked on the paint has been hard. But now that I know what to expect it's become easier to choose the right polish/pad combo without too much trial and error. I agree on the blacked out grill. I really like the look of it.
