Use the white pad unit comes with?
Yep normally in the trash BUT I use mine for non auto detailing related tasks and with a bonnet, hence my quick response. :props:- dad07

Are you talking about the pad that comes with Porter Cable? If so throw it in the cabinet and use it if you are going to use a bonnet.....- dad07

Backing plate ?
You can....but I highly recomend you pick up the megs plate. Less wear and tear on your mf pads.- dad07
