Newbie: use of detailing products & clear films (like 3M)

Usually there is no need for that, high quality waxes like pinnacles SSII for example wont leave a white line or any residue, but if you use stuff like megs it will. The problems with residue come with the polishes.

Who told you it should not be done with machine?

Newbie: use of detailing products & clear films (like 3M)

I polish the whole vehicle, on top of the clear armor. Like i said, i think of it just as an extension of clear coat. I use a machine always, its not going to harm the film. The problem with getting white seams happens when you polish, the polish gets in there and drys white. I use an apc or ipa...

    Menzerna products and labeling.

Well i was thinking that if Menzerna makes such amazing polishes i wonder how their wheel cleaner and sealants work.

    Menzerna products and labeling.

Why is it that the labeling of menzerna products from some websites look completely different than the ones sold here? Also I was looking around and it looks like menzerna makes a car wash and wheel cleaner??? why doesnt AG carry these?????!!

Newbie: use of detailing products & clear films (like 3M)

Well first of all, make sure that the areas which the clear film is being applied are swirl free. 90% of the cars i detail have clear film on them. I polish, wax and wash the car as i would any other car. I think of the clear film as a extension of the clear coat. As far as i know, most high...

    Claying vs. Polishing

No im sure that the washes work. But i dont see how a wash could remove things that are bonded onto the car. Im sure washes work great at cleaning the paints pores. I would bet money a clay bar can remove more bonded contaminants like sap for example from a cars finish than any safe wash could do.

    Claying vs. Polishing

I see what you are saying. I might just give one of those kits a whirl. When i said that a decontamination wash was not going to be as effective as clay. i was refering to clays ablilty to remove bonded contaminates to the surface.

    Mysterious swirls?

I think they are, plus you have to lower them for street use, which is what he uses it for. A well preped EVo and or Subie can beat almost anything, doesnt get much better than an AWD launch. :righton:

    Claying vs. Polishing

If you look back at my post you will see many times, by no means am i saying dont clay, its bad. I clay too, if there was a better way i would use it. As far as the decontamination washes i dont see how they could be as effective as claying. As far as abrasiveness goes, some clays have added...

    Mysterious swirls?

Right, i am a ware of this. But i dont see how particals in the air would cause linear scratches ...even if the car is moving at high speed, the particals would simply embed them selfs or bounce off.

    Claying vs. Polishing

I doubt it, i do a IPA wipe down before i clay, and its always squeaky clean. I have had this happen with every type of clay, and i only use ultra fine clays like pinns ultra poly clay. Now again im not saying the pannel is filled with scratches that werent there before and its unfix able. Like...

    Claying vs. Polishing

i dont really care what anybody says, ive clayed enough times to know its not all that safe. Yes it removes the contaminates but it just doesnt magically get pushed into the clay, its sticks to it, goes in a little and gets dragged across the surface i.e scratches the car, thats why i stopped...

    Mysterious swirls?

I was starting to think that, but it seemed kinda weird that particals impacting the surface would cause swirls, you would thing it would be more like very very small craters?
