My first attempt at single stage paint

If the paint was very chalky it would be worth it to give the paint two applications of the #7. It's surprising how much of it the paint seem to be able to "drink up".

    what's your weather currently like?

In West Los Angeles it's 71 degrees right now (noon) topping out today at 73 degrees. It's supposed to get a little hotter during the weekend, but only by two degrees.

Engine Detailing on an old car (1972 Sel 300 Benz)

Since that engine has almost no electronic you are fairly safe getting water on everything. You will have to remove the distributor cap afterwards and dry it inside, but it would probably be a good idea to cover the distributor and alternator too. And as long as water can not get down the inside...

    Wrist & Back Pain

Agreed. After my back surgery I got a four post lift. Now I can not only get under my cars to change parts, oil, brakes, etc. But when washing and polishing I can easily raise it to where it is comfortable to do each panel.

Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster - Made Better than Factory - Oakes Detail

Beautiful job. :xyxthumbs: Does the new owner appreciate not only the car but the value of proper prep and maintenance? I hope so, the car really does look better than when it was delivered. I know. I live just a few blocks from the Rolls Royce/Lamborghini of Beverly Hills prep center. The...

This is what happens if you wash a black C7 too much..... So be careful

Owning a black car is like owning a boat. The two best days are when you buy it and when you sell it.

Iron Dissolving Wheel Cleaners - Powdercoat

I have been using Iron-X and Sonax on powdercoated wheels for a couple of years now without a single difficulty. Except that sometimes I wish they were even more potent. I hate having to wash and wash and wash to get 10 years of brake crud off the barrels.

    Spammers are gone!

I didn't notice. I always run Ghostery. It eliminates every tracker. I never realized how many there are either.

    Gauge cluster help?

I didn't. I use Meguiars #17 & #10 plastic polish and cleaner. They removed every trace of surface scratching left by people wiping the plastic with Kleenex or a paper towel. http://www.autogeek.net/meg1710botpr.html

    Gauge cluster help?

I was cleaning a girlfriend's truck and she had a terrible mess. A baby that was on her lap (while parked) barfed right into the instrument cluster. I removed the cluster from the dash, disassembled the front plastic lens and washed it in warm water with dishsoap and a MF cloth. The inside of...

    Nissan gtr navigation help

That is the way I prefer too. No chemicals to damage the unknown surface material. And as the MF I use the CarPro Suede cleaning clothes. And they are on BOGO right now. Super soft and I have never had a linting problem. CarPro Suede Microfiber Cloths, suede microfibre, microfiber towels

Post a picture of your lowered car.

No pics at the moment but an anecdote about my older Mustang. I converted it to coil over springs and shocks so it was very easy to adjust the ride height. I has it pretty low. Until the city installed speed bumps on all the streets leading to where I worked. My long tube headers would scrape...

    Sf4000 keep or toss?

I am still using the even older version, PO85rd. I am three quarters of the way down on one quart and I have another in reserve. I use it only for very soft paint or, as I normally use it, for jeweling with a black super soft pad. Unless something has gone wrong with a product there is never...

What would you do, oem paint and repaint involved !

Ask the body shop that you trust how much (additional beyond what they are paying for the insurance repair) they would charge you to sand and re clear the door and quarter panel. Since it will be in the booth anyway maybe they will be willing to mix up a little extra clear and do the other areas...

Dedicatedperfection: Prep Silverado for customs clearance/ship back to U.S.

That was (is) one beat truck. I guess all the folks that borrowed it had never drive such a wide vehicle so they just drove it toward the curb until it scraped. Poor wheels. For what you were given to work with it turned out very nice. I wish you had a picture of what the carpet looked like...

Honda Fit right off the dealer but full of swirls and watermarks

Lot boy was sent out in the AM to get the dew off the cars with an old towel. He did. But gave you an extra dose of dealer installed swirls at absolutely no extra charge.
