Blackfire One Step vs. HD Speed

D166 cuts great for an AIO and works much better with microfiber cutting pads closed cell foam pads. It's a very wet product that absorbs into open-cell foam pads too quickly for me. HD Speed doesn't have as much cut but it's finish is incredible on most all paints. It works great on most of...

Blackfire One Step vs. HD Speed

Yes, it will be close but I use less of BF 1-step than I do with HD Speed on an average sized car

LC flat pads, did I order wrong??

I just double checked on ADS and confirmed it. ADS was the exclusive carrier of those specific LC flat pads on the left for many years.

LC flat pads, did I order wrong??

The first LC flat pads you bought (orange pad on the left) were sold exclusively through Auto detailing solutions I believe. Do you remember if that is where you bought them originally? It's definitely not a B&S pad. Looks more like the orange thin pro

    air compressor for mobile unit

I have a shop but take on some mobile work and have been looking for a good compressor for using my tornador and blowing out polishing pads. This Ridgid 4.5 gallon compressor puts out 5.1 SCFM @ 90psi which is seriously impressive. Plus it's not as loud as other compressors around that size...

    Wolfgang Uber QD dilution

I've only ever use D114 or N-914 as a clay lube for nanoskin autoscrub pads and for clay bar alternatives. But I've used uber(3oz. per gallon) as a clay lube for traditional clay several times. That's good to know though, I'll definitely be steering clear of it when using clay alternatives.

Looking for Input on Polish Selection

I agree. HD Polish+ is the best finishing polish on the market for the money. Easy and fun to use. No heavy polishing oils left behind on the surface like Menzerna. Uses non-diminishing abrasives like M205. Works better than any other finishing polish on glass and plastic. Won't stain trim...

    Wolfgang Uber QD dilution

Yes, 3oz per gallon of distilled water is the perfect ratio for quick detailer, clay lube, and waterless wash. Uber is SO much better than ONR and I love most of optimums products! One thing ONR does do better than any other rinseless wash is encapsulate dirt. It's pretty amazing actually...

3" or 4" pads for Small Area Polishing?

I used to use primarily Buff and Shine 4" pads with a 3.5" backing plate. But in the past few years there have been so many great 3" & 3.25" pads released and the griots new 3" backing plate I hardly ever use 4" pads anymore.

Review - Meguiars D166 Ultra Polishing Wax

I've spent a ton of time with the HDO microfiber and the standard LC microfiber cutting pads and IMO they are virtually identical except for the tapered edge and center cooling chamber on the HDO microfiber cutting pad. Now all I buy are the regular LC microfiber cutting pads and I punch the...

My first try with rotary polisher

I've never actually turned my rotary polisher up above 1,600rpms. I can't imagine trying to correct at 2,500-3,000rpms. That's intense! I've been using the rotary polisher daily for the past 4 years and while I know there are many professionals with more experience and skills with a rotary, I...

    MEGS D156 As drying aid

D156 and Uber Rinseless (3oz. per gallon) are the slickest drying aids I've used. Slickness is generally what I look for first in a drying aid. I prefer using Optimum Car Wax on dry paint since it's not nearly as slick as D156.

The late/great BLACKFIRE All-In-One Trim & Tire Protectant?

Wolfgang Exterior Trim Sealant is incredible on smooth and textured plastic as well as rubber rubber trim. Lasts longer than Blackfire AIO T&T protectant as well. Maintain with Optimum Car Wax or D156 and it can last nearly indefinitely. I reapply every 6 months on my personal vehicle just as a...

When using HD Speed or HD Poxy what do..........

My Pad Prediction - Smaller Wool Cutting Pads for smaller rotary polishers

The only issues I've had with the older tradition Lake Country wool pads is that I've never been a fan of the recessed backing or the linting. I feel like the latest 6" LC lambswool cutting pads are virtually perfect. I know the deep recess backing is safety measure on traditional wool cutting...

    Towels and pads

OPC 3:1 is fantastic for removing polish, paint residue, waxes, and sealants from pads. 3D Towel Kleen 4:1 is a great option for cleaning pads as well (although it is a little bit overkill if I'm not trying to remove waxes and sealants from pads) clean microfiber towels in warm/hot water and...

    Lake Country pad failure

ugh, I'm so jealous! I've been trying to contact LC customer service and have emailed David Patterson directly several times over the past few weeks because I'm trying and find a distributor that is still selling the 4" white waffle pro compounding pads so I can buy a bunch and I still haven't...

    Controlling Rotary polisher

If you're using flat foam polishing pads on a rotary polisher with a compound that doesn't have enough lubrication, that could likely be your problem. Invest is some of the Lake Country 6" lambswool leveling pads. These pads are incredibly smooth on the rotary. Also, I highly suggest getting...
