Have any advice on polishing chrome?

Chrome or any metal (not clear coated) doesn' t respond to paint correcting compounds. You need buffing wheels and metal compounds and rouges. You can get a starter kit for your drill that works surprisingly well from local auto supply. Caswell has a good website for more info. After you get...

You should never have to wash a car. Ever.

What a load. That's like saying you shouldn"t boil things because you are wasting water. Sure droughts cause hardship, but they have since the beginig of time. To sugest everyone would accept "earth tone cars" is not only unrealistic, it's not very smart. Do you know how much water is used...

    New coatings?

I'm in this camp. Gloss Coat and 1 year later (or less) and I repolish and reseal. Longevity is relative. What you expect vs what you get is subjective. I use the Gloss Coat and it meets my expectations, so good to go.

Has anyone used Optimum Big Red Sponge?

There is a Blue Version available from AG as well (Lake Country Foam Wash Sponge LC-99-BIGBLUE). Mine is Blue and I have been using for last 2 years or so on my DD which gets at least 2 ONR washes a week. No marring that I can tell from the sponge. I do car in 5 sections and both sides of the...

Best Sealant for fresh painted wheels-GTechniq C5, Gloss Coat, Wolfgang Metall Werk

Whew dodged a bullet on this one. Sent a quick message off to GTechniq Hello, I used the C5 back in September 2016 to coat my powder coated wheels and only used ¼ of the bottle. It has been suggested that the product has a shelf life of couple of months? The bottle has been stored...

How to get off heavy stuck dirt on the wheels?

Yes I meant least aggressive first (although these are agressive methods I was describing).

Meguiar's DynaCone Cleaner best pad cleanet ever

Have been using this product for about 1.5 years and t is by far the best buffing pad cleaner I have found. Was original sold as a cleaner for the DynaCone metal polishing Yellow cones. It works very well every time. Soak the pad with couple of sprays and let sit face up for couple of...

    SSR Interior Metal Trim

Kind of hard to recommend if you don't know what you are working on. If they are clear coated then correct like any paint. If they are bare aluminum (which I doubt) then metal polish. Plastic use very fine polish. Either material should be sealed or coated after correcting. P.S to check use...

    How to Rinseless Wash Glass

I use mine all the time. Work really well for front windsheild and would not do the back window without it (getting too brittle to contort my body too get to the curved corners). Interestingly, it was one of the first tools I bought when I got into detailing 6 years ago and it was a "home run...

    autotriz nano polisher 2.0

Did the same thing years ago with a flexible shaft from Priness Auto for $10.00. Needed a chuck if I used my rotary, but worked with drill just fine. It was awkward as I did not have that nice stand shown in the video (wonder how much that was). Have the Nano now so that is what I use-much...

How to remove Orange peel problem

That is what I said. You still have to correct the orange peel by sanding but now you have more to work with.

How to remove Orange peel problem

No the orange peel is on the surface clear, so the more clear you apply the more paint is in the "valleys" which is the lowest point of the orange peel. When sanding you lower the highs to level to the lows.

How to remove Orange peel problem

Not so sure this will hurt. If the panel is small then putting more clear on would build it up and give a larger safety margin. Now you would have to prep properly but not really a bad idea (again depending on size of panel and comfort level painting).+

Best Sealant for fresh painted wheels-GTechniq C5, Gloss Coat, Wolfgang Metall Werk

I currently have the C5 on my winter wheels. They were powdercoated (badly) last summer and C5 put on prior to installing early Nov 2016. So far looks same as when applied. Gloss Coat was on the Summers last year and did well for season. Since I only keep the painted finish for 6 months not...

You are correct the C5 is a coating and I should have realized that before I posted. Comparing a coating to a sealant is a little unfair.

Getting ready to seal a set of freshly painted wheels and looking for pros and cons on these three that I have. Wheels were painted by myself using rattle cans, but did use a 2K Clear Coat (also from an aerosol). This is the finished wheel in question (been sitting since Jan 8/16) Here are...
