    Any bookworms in the forum?

@Rav777: I like the Nook very much. To be honest, I imagine the ease and usability of the Nook and Kindle to be about the same. I think the Kindle edges out the Nook in number of books available (however both are capable of receiving hundreds of thousands of books). The new Nook color is a nice...

    Any bookworms in the forum?

I love to read when I have the chance. One of my biggest joys is seeing both of my twin daughters following my lead. I have a Nook that I take to work (I work overnights) and use it religiously. Historical Fiction: Anything by Steven Pressman, Gates of Fire being my favorite Bernard Cornwell...

    Window Cleaner- What's the best?

There are a lot of good replies to this. I will add: Stoner's Invisible Glass Griot's Garage Glass Cleaner No Streek Glass Polish The key in my experience is to use a good quality MF cloth. Factors like high humidity and whether or not the glass is warm will affect the outcome regardless of...

    Rental car

"I used to work at one as well. So a coating applied to a rental car that makes cleaning it easier doesn't make sense?? Please." Not to harp on this, but I said it does not make any business sense. Yes, from a perspective of making a car easy to clean, I agree. But, rental companies make money...

    Rental car

Yet, i have bought three of them and had no problems with any of them ( my last one had almost 180k before I sold it). It depend on the rental car agency and their respective maintenance records. The ageny I worked at changed oil every 3 thousand miles/rotated tires and did any other required...

    Rental car

In response to the original poster, it really makes no business sense for a rental car company to invest in better detailing products/techniques. They are in the business to rent the vehicles as often as possible . I worked for a major rental car company. When the cars are returned, there is a...

Looking for a new car... Opinions?

I have had a Saab before and loved the car. However, Saab resale values tank compared to competitiors and sometimes parts availability can be tough (engines are GM sources, but Saab specific parts can be tough). Hyundai/Kia share many of their platforms/engines. However, both Hyundia and Kia...

    Animal people

I currently have a Shih Tzu that my daughters researched and picked out. He likes them but loves me. We also have an aquadic frog in a 5 gallon fish tank. Prior to that , we have had 2 rabbits (litter box trained), 2 Guinea Pigs (One long hair/one short) and a yellow lab mix.

    Tough Mudder

I have 2 coworkers who want me to join them this year. I'd rather do a smaller version of this, but I may join. It is between 10-11miles/but broken up with different obstacles. I saw the video of the one guy training/running barefoot in the snow and thought maybe I am getting too old for this...

Does Sonax Dashboard Cleaner Have UV Protection??

To reiterate what the second poster stated, I really think that materials have improved not just in appearance but longevity. Do I think that interiors can eventually fade/crack from the sun? Sure, but I do believe that interior materials are much better than before to deal with it. Add UV...

    Coast to Coast am

I have listened to it on and off for the past 15 years. I started listening to it on the hour drive home from work (about 2-3am) and was hooked. I take a sceptical approach to some of the guests but I find it perfect late night radio.

8 minute semi wash - impressive

That is pretty cool. I used to work at an airport and they had a similar bus wash (but not as intensive as this wash) that worked pretty well. But this is definitely more efficient in cleaning large areas.

for you car guys out there

Generally, I buy and keep my cars for awhile. My last car ,a 2001 Mitsubishi Mirage I had for 9 years and almost 200k. The advice above is solid: 1)can you afford the new payments? 2)is the purchase worth it? 3)will this...

I decided to pay it forward

Today,I decided to repay my father-in law for letting me stay at his house while my family waits to move into our new house. I am blessed to have a great relationship with both of my in-laws and consider them true friends. While most of my detailing arsenal is in storage, I used what little I...

    Whose fault is it, really?

It is really the fact that the dealership is there to make a profit, plain and simple. Dealer detailing is a service that really doesn't add anything to the bottom line in their opinion (cleaning/prepping a car is a necessary evil). Therefore, those tasked with cleaning/prepping the cars are...

    Headlight restoration 50/50.

Nice job of the 50/50. I know that Barry Theal did a post in which he sanded down to 1500 and then went straight to automotive clear. The headlights looked fantastic.
