    Paint Thickness vs. Product cut

All good advice but that chart is still too subjective. Bottom line always do a test spot. Measuring paint thickness before and after is another good idea. Sometimes you'll run into repainted panels and after market paint as well. Rarely do people volunteer this information. A few extra...

    Questions regarding fresh paint

I believe you'll find shops that paint with water and solvent based paints in Hawaii. You should check with them to be sure. Most paint shops will tell you how to care for their work.

    Questions regarding fresh paint

I would want to know where you live and what paint process is being used before providing an opinion. I'm in CA we have long ago stopped using solvent based paints where most of the advise above is directed to. With water based paint and clear coat systems you can throw the old rule book out...

What would you do with this?

That's a solid plan. Hard to tell but looks like some are down to primer or even bare metal. If so get some touch up primer to layer in before the color coat. They even have clear coat pens you can use after the color coat drys. Then sand and clear, compound, polish, wax and call it a day...

Meg's D151 - can it be used too much?

Usually because a daily drivers gets pretty beat up and requires more frequent polishing, kind of depends on the mileage and climate. D151 is a great AIO and perfect for DD's.

Would you mix? XMT360 and M205

Guess it doesn't hurt to try a test spot. M205 finishes down wonderfully as a polish you could always top it with a spray wax which technically would be two steps but the spray wax step would be very quick. If you like M205 try their one step D151 for a truely one step polish and wax. Meguiars...

    Overspray removal steps

I doubt you'll be able to get away without polishing especially since its black. Tarminator and mineral spirits plus maybe a plastic razor blade should do the trick but you'll have to ploish afterwards. I'd maybe try a more aggressive clay bar first.

DG501 DA Application...Haze or no Haze?

You're fine. I polish a panel then wipe it and move to the next panel polishand wipe etc. I always mix 601 bonding agent although it's not really necessary if just doing one coat. Richy seems to be the expert with DG so I just followed his lead and it's a great product. Always turns out great.

blend of single stage and clear coat

Simple fix get a new autobody shop. Some just don't want to spray single stage and will do anything to get out of it.

How are you cutting down time?

Doesn't really matter which buffer you use there aren't really any short cuts. Organization will help as will having the correct tools for the job. I do use the Flex 3401 most of the time but still love the rotaries with the PE14 at the top of the list. Do they save time? I doubt it my full...

Highway Lane Marking Paint - Ugh!

If the pressure car wash does not remove the road stripe paint, allow the water to dry and then spray the residue with WD-40 and allow the WD-40 to stay on the area for 1-2 hours and then rewash the vehicle. The WD-40 usually softens the road striping paint without hurting the vehicle finish. If...

    Costco microfiber towels?

Costco mf have worked great for me. Yes I have more expensive towels but the Costco mf have never scratched paint that I have noticed. Mine are most likely the old version yellow not gold. I think sometimes people get way to obsessive about things like this.

    Tornador that shoots Steam!

What a great combo. I hope the guy in the first video wasn't using a shop rag to clean the interior. I know it said microfiber but it sure looked lie a shop rag. It also appeared to be the same one for the complete interior. Say what?

Finally got to use my Flex

kjn all solid advise. Just keep using it and it will become like second nature to you. Treat it like any other polisher, focus on good technique while learning the machine. Avoid putting too much pressure on it because it is force rotation. Your pads will just keep turning so let the machine do...

Ferrari 458 Italia - Detailed by Lawrence

Lawerence as others said great review and awesome work. I'd get some touch up paint for the next time you get your hands on it and add some additional value. Something tells me you're gonna see this ride again. I bet the owners smile was as big as yours!

How to handle this type of client?!

OP this is a great opportunity to work on some great cars. Yea I know paint is paint but I'd much rather work on a cool or elite car than just a beater. See what they have in mind and put a proposal together for them.
