With D151 having the option to be "toned down" with the use of different pads, could it be used with a orange/white pad to remove swirls initially, and then as a polish by using a black pad 2-3 times a year after that with messing with the CC? To remove lsp before re-applying a new coat?

Also just read about using OPC as a spray down to remove lsp before completing a 2 bucket wash.... That a good way to go?

Meguiars d151 is a swirl remover similar to meguiars m205 with that said yes you can team D151 with a orange or white pad and achieve good results without the need for a second product depending on defects on the paint etc as for opc yes you could use this product to remove your lsp though it may cover the lsp making you think its striped away therefore i would use a soap that has the power to remove lsp, and if you want wipe the panels down with opc

I don't know why you'd polish your car 2-3 times a year ideally you do it once and try to maintain, also d151 is an AIO.

Usually because a daily drivers gets pretty beat up and requires more frequent polishing, kind of depends on the mileage and climate. D151 is a great AIO and perfect for DD's.

ANY compound or polish can be used too much. This is because the vehicle has a finite amount of clear coat on it. Once that is gone its gone.... unless you repaint!!!!

It is possible to keep a daily driver to a very HIGH level with minimal effort by washing properly once a week and being careful with where you park it and how you treat it [dont scrape ice off of it!!!]...Then making sure to keep up the LSP before it begins to fail.. throw in a spray wax as a drying aid once a month and youre good to go! :props:

Unless its a work truck or something driven for construction I dont realistically see the need for more than one correction a year. Of cpurse im sure a lot of people could cite specific examples but im speaking in generalities here...

I agree, I don't want to do more then one correction a year... With that said, what can I use to remove all of the lsp (ensure it's all removed) before applying a new coat?

I know by polishing it, this will ensure that it's all gone, but what product will do this, still allowing a coat of wax to be applied?

Pretty much any paint cleaner. I like Blackfire GEP. :dblthumb2:

Try using a paint coating then. I've had GTechniq C1 on for around 4 years and when I wash it the product still beads like new. It's also scratch resistant, so normal driving and washing don't leave marks.
