First customer interested in a coating application.... NEED HELP PLEASE!!!

Since it will be your first coating, I would go Ceramic. Pinnacle, Duragloss, McKee's, they are easier to apply, WOWO. Silica coatings are trickier, a bit of learning curve, and high spots, especially on black cars (more difficult to spot it when leveling it). I just had a problem with coating a...

    3D Liquid Leather

I use the 3D Liquid Leather, it is the best leather smell I've ever used. Regarding protection and conditioning, it is similar to other good brands that I also use, like Zymol and Scholl. But the leather smell is a plus, my clients always congratulate me about it. I would say 7/10. I think AG...

FG400 - foam vs. mf follow up

Which brings back what Mike Phillips said about abrasive technology being the key (and I agree 100%).

FG400 - foam vs. mf follow up

What I would like to humbly add is that sometimes I use a mf finishing pad for cutting. Better finishing, though less cut. I found it out by chance, got the wrong mf pad by mistake once, and worked well. If the paint system is soft to medium, it works.

    What am i missing?

The cutting step, it seems, is not working. It also seems that the pressure you're putting is a bit too much, you are starting to burn the corners. It looks like marrying inflicted by wool with a rotary. CG V series is not a mature product, to put it mildly. I would use Menzerna FG400 or HD Cut...

Should I add a Flex 3401 to my arsenal?

Yes, it is, and yes you should. I'm telling you this because I have the PC and the 3401. The PC will be left with a 3" or 4" backing plate for small areas.

Question about LC HD Orbital Pads

The LC HD Orbital Pads run pretty smooth on a Rupes 21. They are closed cell foam type, imho lacks a bit of cut, but when I need an extra cut I rely on the blue and green Rupes pads. The LC HD is like a thin pad with an integrated cushion in it, but I prefer it for polishing and finishing stages.

    Jeweling Wax - Definition

I wonder if a wax needs abrasives to be considered a jewelling wax. Or else, without the small amount of fine abrasives, would be a LSP?

    Please help.... Very Confused

If you are set to go with the 3401 and menzerna, you should read the mike "smack" technique thread. http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/auto-detailing-101/77155-my-technique-concerning-3401-menzerna-products-hybrid-pads.html

    New Menzerna polishes

I would humbly add the 2500, probably the one I use it most, especially as an AIO for soft to medium clearcoats with light to moderate swirls.

    New Menzerna polishes

It took me almost an year to figure it out when to use the PG1000; hard clearcoat, rotary with wool or hard foam. The 1000, 2000 and 3000 seem to be tailored for rotary use.

    Which polisher to invest on?

The PE14 is a more refined DeWalt, it weights less, better ergonomics and both start at 600RPMs. To add something new to your arsenal, I would consider a Flex 3401. On the other hand, if you start working with a PE14, your DeWalt will end up at Craiglist.

Best foam pads for cutting and polishing with a rotary

Thanks Zubair, I will try 6.5 hybrids on the PE14. I feel kinda stupid, it never ocurred to me this setup :) You know the mantra, 3401 and hybrids, not the PE14.

Best foam pads for cutting and polishing with a rotary

Yes, I know you, Mike :) The reason I'm asking is because I was working on a extremely swirled and neglected black new beetle 2008; I got the usual combo, 3401, fg400 and orange hybrid. It wasn't enough, believe me. I could've used wool, I have quite a few options, and tried carpro mf...
