thinking of trying ironx to revive opticoat- have questions

My car is opticoated. Well I think it still is. It hardly beads up anymore. Its been about 2 years. I want to try to deep clean the surface as I am sure there is build up. Would ironx be the way to go? I already tried claying awhile back and it make zero difference. Beading was still...

need help with some questiosn - refinishing kitchen cabinets

Figured I would update this thread. So I have all the cabinets completed. All that is left are the doors! And I think I know what you mean by furring up. What I noticed is after the first coat of poly. The panels had a rough texture to it. I sanded it, and then applied the second coat, and...

    What's happening to my paint?

Can you feel it with your finger nail? The pictures of the pewter car is mine. Its my spoiler. I cannot feel anything, its smooth. I would also like to note that it has not got any worse since I posted them(like 2 years ago-ish maybe?) and nothing has peeled off or anything like that. Its very...

tire brush scratching the actual tire. the heck?

I dunno man. I have had 3 sets of tires on my car; this set is #4 and this is the first time its happened. Ive done my brothers car on all three sets of tires he has had(no problems) and my moms two sets of tires(no problems). It was a mix of brands too: my car - nexen, yokohama, dunlop...

tire brush scratching the actual tire. the heck?

Couldn't really tell to be honest. It had rained a few days before, so the water washed off most of the shine. I honestly didn't pay attention as after I did it I went straight to the paint. I will have to see how much grime comes off on the next wash. With my old brush and tires, a...

tire brush scratching the actual tire. the heck?

So I got new tires recently (Nitto Motivo) and I washed my car yesterday and wanted to remove their tire shine and I noticed after doing the first tire with my stiff bristled tire brush, it actually left marks on the side wall. WHAT!????? I have never seen this before. I have used this...

    Clear coat failure?t

Not fixable shy of a full repaint. Not sure what model or year of car that is, but I don't think its worth doing unless they earl scheib it for a few hundred. A professional job at a proper collision and paint center will cost a couple thousand.

opticoat syringe has chunks in it and is hazy

How old is your tube? This is quite interesting if yours is as old as mine. I don't remember exactly, but its been atleast 2 years. Im in sandiego. It rarely gets cold and I ALWAYS sealed the cap tight.

opticoat syringe has chunks in it and is hazy

Has that bubble been in there for a year? Anyways, in other news, I squirted it out on the concrete outside to see what happens for fun. After it was all out, I could see the chunky bits. They weren't hard, they seemed to have a rubbery consistency.

    Hydr02 over Opti-Coat?

I beg to differ on the beading part. Though I guess it depends on your definition of beading. I have had my car coated for about 2 years now, and it barely beads. I have already attempted to rejuvenate it in the past by claying and using a paint cleaner many times and its unfixable; Ive given up...

opticoat syringe has chunks in it and is hazy

Darn. I have always made it a point to get out as much air as possible, but there always seems to be a bubble.. Perhaps air is seeping in somehow.. I dunno. Oh well. Guess I will toss it. :( The instructions on the syringe don't mention anything about getting rid of the air. I always tried...

opticoat syringe has chunks in it and is hazy

In the garage in its cardboard box in a cupboard. Last time I used it was around 8 months Id guess, and at the time, it was starting to become hazy, no chunks though..

opticoat syringe has chunks in it and is hazy

Yeah I don't know either. I never liked this tube to begin with. Had many issues in the past getting it to stick to panels. I coated my whole car, and only a couple of the panels still show beading properties. The water does come off easily, so there is something there. But no matter how much I...

opticoat syringe has chunks in it and is hazy

Ive had this tube of opticoat for around 2 years now and I just pulled it out to use it again to coat my headlights and it has a bunch of chunks in it and its hazy! Does this stuff have a shelf life? I didn't know this could happen. Would it be fine to use still or should I just throw it out...

need help with some questiosn - refinishing kitchen cabinets

Figured I would update this. I ended up just sanding it even more, but with very little pressure. Some areas where I believe it was thicker ended up turning white from shaving those layers, but after applying the second coat of poly, I was delighted to see that it filled in and covered the white...
