What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Thanks, yeah pinstriping (hand painted) ain't for everyone, but I feel it works to bring some life to that polymetal gray color.

What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

I have a renewed respect for the pro detailers! I also found out wheel cleaners are better suited for wheels - not eyes...:( Foamed with Griots Foaming Surface Wash Wheels and tires cleaned with Griots Wheel Cleaner and Optimum POWER CLEAN Washed with Gyeon's Bathe Iron remover Gyeon...

    Wheels and drums

So I'm intent on doing the prep and coating process this weekend. Going to coat the tires and wheels. I don't have a lift and don't feel like removing the tires. For the wheel drums, would you still recommend coating them (difficult accessibility) or use a spray sealant and call it a day?

What is your favorite microfiber towel for waterless MAINTENANCE wash?

Good question, Mike. I do have a nice selection of MF towels - mostly from Griots, so the other day I called and asked them just that - what is the recommended towel for a WW (and Rinseless) wash. To my surprise, he said the PFN Terry Drying Towel. PFM(R) Terry Weave Towels, Set of 2...

What to use to protect Tesla White seats?

I'm with you on the seat covers. Just takes away the look and feel of the car. Now, if it's true as @dwalake mentioned (and no reason not to believe that) it makes caring for them even easier. I would use a "leather" coating and call it a day.

dry - faded - plastic trim

Did the same with my Crosstrek this weekend and couldn't be easier to apply. Hoping for the same longevity as you. Next time, I would buy direct, rather than getting them from Griot's - saves coin.

For those washing their cars weekly or fortnightly (LOL!), how do you clean and re-dress tires?

Same here with the water based coatings - getting a few weeks at most - and that's with light driving in good weather. I just cleaned and coated my Crosstrek's tires and rims Friday. And will be doing the same soon enough on my CX-5.

Quick question on engine/engine bay cleaning

I know most modern cars have engines that are supposed to be shielded from water damage and by that I am referring to a quick hose wash/rinse, not getting stuck in a flood. I'm thinking of cleaning via pressure washer my engine/engine bay. Anyone experience any damage from doing so, is it a safe...

Two questions - rims that won't come clean and waterless wash (unrelated)

Issue 2 - I would not use any waterless, rinseless or 2 bucket wash/shampoo that had any gloss enhancers or waxes in it if I planned to do what you are planning.

Ugh - Correcting Paint after "Dealer Prep"

Happened to me at Audi a few ago, told them not to wash and yep, washed. Luckily, there weren't any obvious swirls - or maybe I just didn't want to bring out a light and check for them. Some people, besides telling the service person not to wash, make "signs" to leave on the dash...just in case...

    Detail over multiple weeks?

Phew, that's a lotta work - sounds like your car has been taken care of. 48 hours should be more than enough time for rain not to effect it.

    Griot’s 3 in 1 Ceramic Longevity & upkeep

Oh, I did not say it was superior - though I have read some comments that it is. I am saying that I am more than satisfied with both the cleaning ability and the gloss it leaves behind. If you'd like, you can PM me and I can send you a sample.

Unexpected Update on Flex Wax (Graphene) durability

Don M, Glad it went well, as others have said there is bird poop and there is bird poop, but I think the biggest factor working in your favor was the fact that your car was in the garage all that time. Might have been different if it was outside in the sun, getting baked on. Then again, you...

To those who do not have access to a garage....

Thanks All. A further "investigation" on my part revealed that if I do a little "furniture" moving aka my daughter's 3 drum sets and my wife's gardening stuff, I have enough room to have my CX-5' dry properly in a warm, dry environment. Maybe I'm too much of a doting father...

Newb with questions about Subaru paint.

Agree with the above posts - just another dealer way to get unsuspecting customers to open their wallets a little deeper. I have had 2 Subarus - one a 2006 Outback which we traded for a 2021 Crosstrek a few months ago. That car was outside 24/7 and I did coat it and the paint was in superb...

To those who do not have access to a garage....

Thank you Mike for doing the heavy lifting! Yeah, my plan was to do it in 2 days - all prep one day and coat the next, starting early in the morning to give it maximum drying time. But I think I'M going to first see if I can move enough stuff around in my (heated) garage - which was once my...
