As you mentioned, the only thing I see is the undersized BP. I'm with you, I don't see how that would cause an issue, but it's the only thing out of the ordinary. Did you try it with the 7.5 gray again (with the correct BP) to see if it resolved the issue?

Hmmm...I used it on an 05 blk E500 and the looks, beading and slickness lasted a couple of months easy. This is on a daily driven vehicle that doesn't get washed regularly and gets no QDs applied. I was actually surprised by it.
