Hello...

My first post at the Autogeek forum...

I have just placed an order at the webshop, I purchased most of the "basic" Duragloss products to shine up my 2003 VW Passat with black metallic paint...

The paint is in VERY god shape and conditon, almost scratchfree and swirl free after a round at a local meguiars shop her, with swirl and scratch removing... I am now going to do this my self next time, since the detailer at the meguiars shop fixed my car very well right before the winter came here to Norway, I now have a good starting point to detail my car self...

I have searched a bit at the forum, and it looks like Al and Sparkie (and Truls from Norway) are the "DG boys" in here...:)

Here is my first shopping list from AG:

1 DG-111 Duragloss Clear Coat Polish (CCP) #111 8.50
1 DG-105 Duragloss Total Performance Polish (TP 9.99
1 DG-101 Duragloss Polish & Cleaner (PC) #101 8.50
1 DG-901 Duragloss Car Wash Concentrate (CWC) # 4.99
1 PIN-PP Pinnacle Polishing Pal Combo 24.99
1 COBRA-600 Cobra Teal Edgeless Microfiber Polishi 7.99
1 X-2000 Meguiars Water Magnet 9.99
1 DG-271 Duragloss Rubber & Flat Black Dressing 6.99
1 X-3002 Meguiars Microfiber Wash Mitt 5.99
1 AG-5GBL-S-1 5 Gallon Wash Bucket Combo With FREE B 29.99

I would appreciate some tips and trixs from people who has experience with DG products...

The combo I have heard, and that I was starting to try out was:

Washing and drying:
Meguiars Wash Mitt
Duragloss Car Wash
Grit Guard Wash bucket
Meguiars Water Magnet

Claying:
Meguiars Quick Detail Clay
Meguiars Qucik Detail Spray

Clean/Polish/Wax:
DG #101
DG #105
DG #111

Wipe it of with cobra MF...

:welcome: nice products that you have listed.

Welcome to AG! :welcome: Your process looks fine, except for the last phase. You have some redundacy there. Many people just use 105, 101 or 111 by themselves and you can layer them also. I'm not positive, but I think the 105 has the best cleaning ability of the three. After using the 105 (and letting it cure for 12 hours) you can add another layer of 105, or some people like to top it with 111. It all comes down to personal preference. Long story short.....you don't need to use all three.

Thanks for responding :)

So I can do it this way here instead:

First step: #101 or #105

Second step: #105 or #111

How is each DG product working (#101, #105, #111)?

As Blk45 mentioned, i think some products are redundant. If it were me, i would have gone with:
DG 601Polish bonding Agent (
DG 105 or 101 (layer if you want)
DG 951 Aquawax (maybe once a month) or your choice of wax like Natty's blue.

What do you think?

hmmmmm, sounds interesting...

Can you tell me more about #601?`

I was about to order #951, but as popular as the AW is, it was not in stock at the moment... But AW is going in on the next order from AG :)

Also read much about P21S wax as well, may be used as a last finish over "the last step" as i finishing touch on the car, as Natty`s blue...?

From what i've read, the DG 601 Bonding Agent will adhere to DG polishes like the 105, 101, 111 and extends the longevity of the polish.

From what i also gather, DG 601 is not 'essential' if your paint is clean and free of oils, waxes, dirt etc that could hinder the adhesion of the polish. I know this step is probably unnecessary, but i like the idea of longer lasting polish.

Aquawax is a great product, but others mentioned that it should only be used every 4-6 weeks, because the AW 'layering' eventually diminishes the look of the paint.

Also, another good product is the DG 921 Fast Clean & Shine Detail that you can use in between AW applications , like a quick detailer.

Like you, i'm still trying to figure out what the best DG combo. The DG website is SEVERELY lacking in its product descriptions, and instructions. I wish the DG website would include some sort of guide that will show consumers which products go best with which ones. I have to rely on other people's experience as well as trial and error. :)

Some of the marine products are great too!! I use 501 to start as a cleaner and then go to 601 followed by 105...that is an unbeatable lineup. Using AW periodically only makes it better. You will love their products, I know I do. After using however, don;t forget the :Picture:

Use #101 as your base, I work mine in with my PC until it's almost gone, then wipe the rest off with a MF. #601 apply to the whole vehicle by hand and then go back over it with #105 also by hand let dry for an hour after an hour wipe off with your MF. Wait at least 8-12 hours or the next day, apply #951 or #921 to get the dust off and ready for Second coat of #105. Apply #105 lightly let dry for an hour then removed with your MF. The sealant will be rock hard and so deep looking....
Use #951 after each time you wash your vehicle.
Remember, use these lightly. A little goes a long ways.

Tips on #951, Spray one light spray on you MF, this is the only time you need to use #951 on your MF. Then spray one sweeping spray per body part. Two per hood, use very lightly...

I always use #951 after a washed. It will keep your car looking great...
Welecome to AGOL, enjoy your stay.....

I am not a fan of the look of 105. Additionally, it has the strongest concentration of cleaners, therefore, I would use the above process with 111 instead. I find 111 has a much better look and a bit more durable.

Both products are a fair price, I would consider both. I use 105 like an AIO, just like 101, and my pad is black.

Finally, I like the Marine 521 even better for cleaning the paint, and the marine version of FC&S (don't recall the #, 5**).

Good luck.

I have now tested some of the DG products that I recived on friday...

I just tested the products on the hood, going in this order:

Washing with DG#901 two times, drying the car with the watermagnet,
clayed the hood with the Meguiars Quick Detail Clay, then attempt DG#101 to the hood, and after 1 hour I buffed it off, waited 1 hour then attempt DG#105, and after 1 hour I buffed it off, waited to the next day (20 hours after the DG#105 was attempt) and put on a last layer of DG#105...! The result was WOW WOW!!! Wet look and awesome shine!

Pictures comes when the hole car is finished...

You should wait 8-12 hours between applications of sealants to allow them to fully cure. You did on the last app., so you will be ok.
