Collinite Products: 845 LW and 840 Pre-Wax Cleaner

I recently received sample sizes of BF's Sealant and Gloss Enhancing Polish and can't wait to try them out. If they work out well, then I am thinking of purchasing the full size bottles. But the only sticking point is the $35+ price tag for the sealant. So I've been looking into alternatives...

    Thoughts on old 6" griots

Or you can hold on to your current GG DA and use it as an emergency back-up, or for expressly applying/removing waxes/sealants. Just a thought. :D

    *NEW* Speedy Surface Prep Towel

This seems like a very interesting product. If the price wasn't so high I'd add it to my wishlist. But my thoughts may change once I've read further reviews on this new AG item. Guess I'll do a google/yahoo/bing search and see what pops up.

Sort of question, sort of rant.

Lornek, I feel your pain. As a former kama'aina, now transplanted to TX, I know what it feels like to be paying EXTRA shipping. Sounds like you got a good thing going with that other company. I think I know what company you're talking about. Stick with them. If they treat you right and...

    Introduction

I'm a relative newbie at this too, so I won't be able to offer much advice. But if it's something I've had experience with, I'll chime in with my 2 cents. And welcome to the AG Forums, Paul! :welcome:

whats the best product to clean wheels

And all this time I thought Orange Sherbet was King. Oh well, live and learn I guess.

If I had a brain, I'd be dangerous.

Then I'm guessing that the pre-wax cleaners should be used AFTER polishing, and PRIOR to LSP application. My car is a Honda Fit in white, and the paint is very soft, so I'll be opting for the finest clay I can find (and afford). I read somewhere that white Fits use a single stage paint...

If I had a brain, I'd be dangerous.

I've read where dozens of people use Dawn as a wax stripper. But alas, I live in a condo with no hose access, and must rely on BF Rinseless wash. It does a great job, BTW. Not as great as a regular bucket wash, but it makes my car positively gleam. Dawn as a wax stripper. Sounds kinda kinky...

    washing car in different temperatures

I try to wash my car as early as possible in the morning. Once that summer sun comes up it gets HOT! Plus there's less chance of getting water spots. Through lots of practice I'm now able to completely wash and wax my car in about two hours. And that includes detailing my tires and interior...

If I had a brain, I'd be dangerous.

Thanks RoadRage, I was thinking (there I go thinking again) that the claying process would remove most, if not all, of the old waxes. I'll definitely give it a go prior to polishing. My car is nearly a year old and a clay bar has yet to touch it. Any thoughts on Pinnacle's Poly Clay? I hear...

Sort of question, sort of rant.

arack, that's kinda harsh, don't you think? C'mon, we're all fellow car enthusiasts and we're supposed to help each other, right? Isn't that the reason why we all joined AG online forums, to give AND receive help? I don't recall giving abuse as the reason for joining the AG Forums. But...

Sort of question, sort of rant.

Ah yes, the sometimes necessary evils of shipping charges. Whenever I order AG stuff, I always try to keep the shopping cart at or below $60, that way I get charged less for shipping. And it makes it easier to pay off the credit card charges so that I can order more stuff. LOL On the other...

If I had a brain, I'd be dangerous.

Greetings fellow AG fans! I've been thinking. I am going to be polishing my car soon with Blackfire's Gloss Enhancing Polish. If I used the polish to remove old waxes, won't they gum up the polishing pad? Should I use a good wax stripper first? I was thinking of using Griot's Garage Paint...

    Suds and Duds

After all the posts I've read where vinegar is recommended as a rinse aid for MF towels, I decided to give it a try, and lemme tell ya, that stuff works wonders for removing detergent residue. A big mahalos for everyone who gave me their input. They are much appreciated!

    Coatings and Single Stage Paints

Holy Cow! I have a white Honda Fit! So does this mean that it has no clearcoating? Sorry, still new at this.

    Suds and Duds

I've read several postings and 1/4 cup vinegar is recommended. Should it be added directly to the load being rinsed?

Bobby, I can always count on you to give me tips and hints. Too bad I can't hire you to detail my car for me when I'm lazy. *Chuckle*

Anyone else unmarried? Am I weird?

Nothing wrong with still being single. You can pretty much come and go as you please. As an added plus you can buy all the AG stuff that your heart desires. No wives or girlfriends around rolling their eyes at you and muttering: "Stupid Guy Thing!"

    Suds and Duds

That's good to know. Spending half the day washing MF towels is not my idea of being very productive. If vinegar is going to help out then I'm all for it. Thanks for the tip! :iagree:
