    Hardened gorilla glue

Maybe using a steamer to loosen the glue? Never dealt with Gorilla glue yet myself.

black trim on edge of truck bed and tailgate faded

There is trim dye you can buy online but I haven't seen something like that offered on AG. It only holds on "grainy" trim that is not smooth to the touch, the grain helps it hold. after a 10/90 Rubbing alcohol wipedown you would apply it, let it dry for 5 minutes then apply a trim dressing you...

Good Shop Vac for mobile detailing

Here is what I use, does not take up much space and the vac is strong enough. Blower option is a little weak but works, you'll need the optional extension hose to make it convenient. RIDGID 4.5-Gal. Wet/Dry Vac-WD4522 at The Home Depot

    Colinite over Meg's Ultimate Wax

Just wanted to add that Meg's Ultimate Wax looks for a 12 hr. minimum cure time (if I recall what their tech line advised) before applying anything on top of it so you don't mess with the sealant's bonding.

Non abrasive stovetop pads for detailing

Hey Dave, It's those scrubbing pads you use on the new style glass cooktop stoves. I was disgusted one day after a job because I knew I could do a better job on the customer's wheels. They were happy but I wasn't, then I thought about when I scrub our glass top stove and if it won't scratch...

Non abrasive stovetop pads for detailing

Just wanted to see if any of you thought of this and use them already. Last season I had some vehicles with bad brake dust baked in that only half responded to using Wolfgang's Uber wheel cleaner. So I experimented with using the yellow non scratch stove cleaning pads along with some Uber wheel...

    Magnetic sign damage to paint

This thread is old but I thought I should update it, wound up having to get both front doors repainted by a local body shop. The paint was actually gone from the doors where the sign was, seemed to suck the pigment right off the door. Well, I won't be using signs again.

Leather run (drip) marks, Megs D181

Megs said their D181 Leather cleaner is toward the strong (Alkaline) end of the spectrum, I want to purchase something more PH balanced that's safer and save D181 for the bad stuff. I left some run marks on my own car seat while testing and don't want to repeat this to a customer. I see a soft...

    Magnetic sign damage to paint

Thanks for all the feedback, I hadn't thought about moisture stains, it was a rainy Summer and water was behind the signs often. Sealant was applied before the signs went on but now I can see I should have pulled them and reapplied more. The strange part as I wet sanded was that the 1500 grit...

    Magnetic sign damage to paint

I just tried 105 with a cutting pad and still no effect. Tried the Metal Polish idea, no luck. Decided to wet sand with 600 grit and it seems to have finally taken some out of the cloudiness out of the clear. I plan on picking up 200 grit and see if I can't get some better results...I'll never...

    Magnetic sign damage to paint

Thanks Dave, I may post a pic tonight, but I will go as abrasive as I can if that's the direction I need to go in. Black paint with white square spots outlining where the magnets sat. I saw this during the Summer and just figured on using my buffer further along in the season. Was surprised...

    Magnetic sign damage to paint

My vista print signs left white marks on my truck, tried buffing it out but no luck yesterday. Any of you run into this before? I can try a different compound tonight or wet sanding, didn't expect this.

Average price of Convertible Top treatment?

What gets me is that the protectant costs up to $26.00/can, to get 3 coats of coverage on the top yesterday it took almost the whole can. If I charged $50.00 for the service and get taxed at 41% I have 29.5 profit, minus the 26.00 can which leaves me with $3.50 profit. I think I'll need to raise...

Average price of Convertible Top treatment?

Thanks, I have a blower that I use to air dry but it did not look as if the material was completely dry and it was evening already. I didn't wan't to chance sealing in any moisture so I figured on returning today. I like your pricing, if more guys are in that range then I'll have to bring mine...

Average price of Convertible Top treatment?

Looking to gather some info from other detailers as to what they charge for this service. Factoring in that I'm Mobile and would have to revisit the client to apply the Raggtopp Protectant a day later after fully dry. I just charged $40.00 for a fabric top and am not sure how many tops I can get...

    Convertible Window plastic cleaning

What is the most popular product used to just wipe down window plastic without "fogging" it up? I just saw a You Tube video that someone demonstrated Pledge Multi-Surface cleaner as a good choice. If other folks here have had success with it then I think I'll add that to my inventory. I have a...

Two stage buff out- could use some advice

Thanks again Ralph...I was just looking to see what AutoGeek charges for Dr. Colorchip before I checked the threads! By the way, if you served with the Corps, thanks for your service, we came from a Marine Corps household and when I was little, my dad had me reciting the Marine Corps hymn before...

Two stage buff out- could use some advice

Funny thing Bill, I started out this season using that as my sealant wax for every detail. But since Meguiar's does not sell it in bulk ( trying to cut down cost per job) I switched to STS 3000 from a company in Pittsburgh. After struggling to get it off the last 2 cars I did, I decided to temp...

Two stage buff out- could use some advice

Thanks Kevin, that's exactly what I feel happened. I'm glad you guys all responded to this, it makes me feel like other guys have my back. Before threads like this existed, detailers must have spent a lot of phone time talking about "curveballs" they run into. The customer reassured me that my...
