Forgive my ignorance, but what's the downside of washing microfiber and pads with laundry detergent in the washing machine? Because of my stubbornness and denial, I've not considered doing it any other way other than the washing machine with detergent.

You're not listening to all those with tons of real life experience. Why did you ask for input?

None of my neighbors, friends, or family give a hoot about detailing. My GF keeps her car clean and appreciates my efforts.

For me that's what makes it fun and challenging. It's an adventure and you really can't make a bad decision. This new stuff is all good, but some of it is amazingly good. I like reading and researching and looking forward to trying.

Do you know about the Harbor Freight DA? About $50 and 20% off coupon available. Reviews say it's a worthy machine. I'm getting one as a second DA to use with 3" pads.

I just ordered a Toro electric leaf blower($38) after thinking about and rejecting the blowers that sell for $400 for drying cars. With a waxed car the water will blow off easily and then require just a quick MF wipe for the few drips.

I used it on my girlfriend's black Mercedes. I was pleased with the result. Good swirl free glossy finish. Used white pad and used very sparingly. No issues and buffed off effortlessly. It was a sample and didn't even use the full 2 oz. Topped with Sonax liquid wax that I had. I'm a hobbyist.

I use Ultima Waterless Concentrate Wash as lube and wash. Great stuff and cost effective.

I'm getting one(HF) as a second DA to use with 3" pads so I don't have to hassle changing out the BP.

I'm a hobbyist and use a Groits 6" DA. I'm wondering if 3"-3.5" backing plates and pads will work on the 6" DA. AG site doesn't talk about this as an option. Just wondering.

I agree that you'll get better results with a DA in most cases.

yes, HF pads don't last for me. At the on sale price they can just be thrown away.

Costco= 36 microfiber towels,16"X16", about $20. That's all I ever use. Good quality IMO
