How do you know if a MF towel is of good quality?

In google, search Junkman microfiber. He explains how to tell good microfiber (usually South Korean vice Chinese) using hand test. If drag over hand and is "grabby," that's not good.
 
Junkman video was very informative. And those towels from Rag Company are cheap

I recently listened to a podcast with Jason Rose that discussed some of the differences between what we do here and what is going on in the rest of the world. Would be interesting to see detailers making their own polishes and pads by hand

The ONLY reason some towels feel "grabby" on your hands is because they are closed loop construction, versus split fiber NON loop construction. There is simply no reason to think all your jobs can or should be done by split fiber (as in hair like) towels. Just as there is no basis what so ever to say that all towels out of China are junk!
 
Lol @ cardaddy. Like most, I listen, read and then try myself to validate or invalidate claims. That said, I know there can be a lot of variables that drive results, so what may work for some will not work for others. That said, I have found a lot of what Junkman has said is accurate and logical. No ad hominems here pls.

Well of course... and that was my intention, that people TRY TOWELS and not listen to a given source, even if that source does tend to put up videos ad nauseam about this or that.

Ad hominem tu quoque might be more along the lines of where I was reaching. As in, looped fiber construction versus non-looped fiber construction is THE reason towels drag your hands (which was not addressed in any of said videos) yet is critically important to the matter. And as we know, a hard working man will have hard working hands. ;) (Which is why mine are so soft.) :laughing:

I know that CarMomma darn near refuses, I mean REFUSES to work with anything but the split fiber Korean towels. BECAUSE, she works as an office manager all day, handling car titles (and all sorts of other paperwork) and your general run of the mill microfiber towel grabs the living snot outta' her hands. Ergo.... she just wigs out when she touches "regular" microfiber towels. :)

I just got some CarPro BOA's last month out of curiosity (they were having a sale). I haven't used them yet, but out of the package they feel & appear stellar!
 
Wash the towel 20 times, observe the properties of denseness, original feel from usage, softness, grabbing power. Longevity is a great sign of a quality towel!

And remember, cleaning is huge to maintaining quality.
 
Costco= 36 microfiber towels,16"X16", about $20. That's all I ever use. Good quality IMO

they are decent quality depending on the pack you get. i bought the kirkland brand mf towels when they first started stocking them at costco and they are soft & plush and i haven't experienced any linting with them as well. now if were to go buy another pack, who knows if they will be the same. i've learned that with microfiber towels they vary from batch to batch...
