Clay and baggie test. When to stop?

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Move on to your next step whether it's polishing or waxing.

That's probably the primer showing through on the bottom. My guess is the color layer is razor thin right now.

Clay and baggie test. When to stop?

You might be feeling tiny "craters" in the paint due to solvent pop or more likely orange peel. If you listen carefully when claying, you can hear the sound of the clay shearing contaminants off the paint. It's a very faint tick kind of sound. If you aren't hearing that sound anymore, you've...

    Dlux issue

It's possible that the trim wasn't entirely clean before you applied the Dlux. If other dressing products were used before Dlux cleaning can be more difficult. Try 1Z Einsett deep plastic cleaner or the tuff shine tire cleaner on the plastic to thoroughly clean it before applying the Dlux...

    Cleaning foam pad with 3.0

If you're talking about the Wolfgang deep gloss paint sealant, you aren't getting it all out of the pad. That stuff is resistant to any cleaning product I've tried that is also safe for the pad itself. Best you can do is roll the pad between your fingers and squeeze out the excess product.

Ferrari F430 Interior Makeover @ the detailien HIVE

The lighting of the photos is distorting the proper comparison before and after, as is the close up/back off and slightly different angles. Notice how every before shot has that blueish LED type light and the after shots are a warmer yellowish light? If you zoom up on the after pic of the...

Little marring after clay. Is it avoidable?

IMO, marring is unavoidable with clay, especially so for you and I, as we own black vehicles. Some types of clay are considered less aggressive, and likewise some brands are far less aggressive. Ultimately, I've never found a clay that didn't mar the paint, even if it's just a little bit...

    Sunscreen on paint

I think it would depend on the sunscreen. Most the spray products use "absorber" chemicals like Avobenzone that actually absorb UVA/UVB rays instead of reflecting them like micronized zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. Those absorbing type of chemicals don't penetrate like the micronized...

    LC Hybrid 5" Pad BP

In tight places, the Velcro backing and edge of plate might hit the paint where the pad isn't. Sometimes on very small panels and body lines, you've got no choice but to use the edge of the pad. Mirrors, around some windows, license plate cut outs come to mind offhand. Depends on the car...

    LC Hybrid 5" Pad BP

The cutting and polishing pads (orange and white) are firm enough to use the 3.5" plate just fine I would think. The black finishing pad should be fine if you're just applying a wax or sealant. Not sure how much you could bear down on it for any correction work without a bit of mushrooming on...

    LC Hybrid 5" Pad BP

Which DA you using? Hybrid pads are pretty thick and not the best match for free spindle DAs. Thick pads absorb those machine's work output. Not saying they won't work at all, but it very well might take you longer. If you have a flex, that's a different ballgame. Get the LC 4" plate and go...

Best product to keep wheels clean the longest?

Decon the wheels with Iron X and then clay. Wipe the whole thing down with a 15% UP A IPA solution and let it dry off before coating. Get everything off the wheels you can before the IPA wipe.

Best product to keep wheels clean the longest?

It's been my experience that a coating will out perform anything else currently on the market. I just don't get the same longevity out of it that I do on the paint, even though I only use car wash soap, or a very diluted APC if they're really bad. Still 9-12 months is better than anything else...
