    2011 Black Yukon Correction

If the paint has never been clayed, it probably needs it. Are you familiar with the baggie test? With a plastic sandwich baggie over your hand, gently rub the clean paint and feel for any grittiness. The baggie increases your finger's sensitivity. If their are bonded contaminants on the...

    2011 Black Yukon Correction

Re: 2011 Black Yukon Correction - corrected Looking good!! And you are refining the washing process which is important to avoid inducing scratches and undoing all of your hard work. As mentioned above, scrap the jelly blade. I would discontinue using the chamois as well, for the same reason...

    Tinted Windows Annoy Me

Setec, I was medically retired after a motor vehicle accident that did some serious damage to me. My department didn't have a union but I was the treasurer of the Police Officer's Association. We had no bargaining power which was fine since I'm not a huge fan of unions. I used to get into...

    Tinted Windows Annoy Me

LOL! No "get out of a ticket stickers." I just drive the speed limit. When I was a cop, I always tried to find probable cause to stop cars sporting such stickers. The driver usually had warrants, suspended license or drugs. LOL!

    Tinted Windows Annoy Me

Being a former motor cop in California, I can lend a different perspective. Our department expected our personal vehicle's comply with all vehicle equipment laws. As a field training officer, I had a new recruit that drove his lowered, illegally tinted pick-up to work every day. He was...

Critique my package and price plan please

Also, I ALWAYS clean the door jams as part of a regular wash. It's the first thing you see when you open the door. A local drive through car wash in my town says on their website,"Our Attention to Detail Will Keep You Coming Back." Really?? They don't open the doors or anything. The driver...

Critique my package and price plan please

I love learning new things, even things not detailing related. I think most detailers have that quality about them. When deciding on pricing, consider how much time a service will take to complete then think about what you think a fair price to charge for an hour of service would be. It...

Question about everyones "Wash And Wax" jobs. AIO or dedicated wax?

I use OCW for an after wash wax, GPS for machine applied AIO. OCW is just too easy to use and takes so little time and IME, dust and dirt don't cling to it as much as other waxes I've used so the customer's car looks great longer. Like Mike Phillips states, "match your services to your client...

    Cummins Show Truck

$45/HR doesn't sound unreasonable at all considering it's going to require you to work on more difficult areas to access that would be easy to reach on say, a MINI Cooper. LOL Take lots of before and after pics!

    New guy with questions!

Welcome! Regarding the fresh paint, ask the shop that does the job how long you should wait before applying a wax or sealant. The paint may need time to outgas/cure and you don't want to disrupt the process. You can polish it with a sealant/wax-free polish until the paint fully cures.

Detailed Black G35 (In really bad shape)

It hurts my heart and my eyes to see how some people treat their vehicles. How much more time and money are you willing to spend on it? Looks better than before but I agree with the above comments. Did you try a test spot to get a feel for the compound's performance? It may just need more or...

As far as a dressing goes, I've had good luck with Meguiars Ultimate Black. It has good durability, doesn't attract dust, and is not greasy.
