    Car wash in my basement

There's a whole thread devoted to this. Search on Worx Hydroshot.

    Midwest Winter Paint Protection

I hear you. I was mainly talking about the painted surfaces of the car, where keeping the clear coat nice through the winter is more of an issue than rust. The under surfaces of the car, well, we're just sort of screwed. I get why people want to wash their cars in winter. My wife does because...

    Meguiars Hyper Dressing

Also a great product for wheel wells. If they're not too dirty and you don't feel like washing them, spray the HD on, it darkens them up nicely, done.

    Midwest Winter Paint Protection

Pick a nice day in October or November, and apply your favorite sealant to your car. Then ... do nothing. Don't wash the car until approximately March. Seriously, this is what I do. Washing the car is indeed a losing battle. Take it to a car wash, it's dirty by the time you get home. Winter =...

    Car wash in my basement

I do a rinseless wash in my garage (no drain) all the time. The water dries from the floor in about an hour. If I want the floor to dry faster, I drag an old bath towel around the car with my foot, then the floor dries in 15 minutes.

How many here are still using the Porter Cable DA?

Same here, I use it with 3" pads only, use Flex with larger pads. The PC works great w/ smaller pads.

How best to negotiate with dealer for new car price ?

This is my technique also. I'll also contact dealers in nearby cities, in my case Milwaukee or Chicago. You can generally tell who wants to move a car. If a car is super popular, nobody's going to give me a deal on it, so I try not to get my heart set on any particular make/model before I get...

Cleaning Fender wells (liner under the fender)

I pretty much do what Eldorado does. Generally, I don't clean them, I just hit them with Meg's All-Season Dressing. Even when you clean them, you have tar remaining. That's problematic because the same stuff that dissolves tar also can potentially dissolve plastic. So I've lowered my...

Before I start picking up a DA polisher I have a lot of unanswered questions ...

I started with a Porter-Cable, but got tired of spending hours polishing. I bought a Flex and it cuts polishing time in half at least. The Porter-Cable is a good machine and I use it now with 3 inch pads. The 3 inch pads allow you to get into tighter spaces, but as Mike says, it's not worth...

    The Tesla Tractor is real

With the cars, they have automated battery swap stations. You're low on juice, you drive to a station over over a pad covering an underground mechanism. The mechanism pulls your low battery out and replaces it with a charged battery. You drive off with a freshly charged battery, your low battery...

    Which clay mitt?

I prefer the mitts because they are easier to hang on to and not drop. I also use really soapy water plus a grit gard.

Looking for product for tires wheel wells and undercarriage

I also use Meg's All-Season dressing for wheel wells. You don't even have to prep or wash the wells, just spray it on and it darkens it nicely. I might have to try the Hyper Dressing to compare.

    orange peel solutions?

I had some orange peel from a repair. The denim pads w/ Meg's M105 took care of it quickly. Couple of things. 1.) The pads cut quickly, be careful. 2.) The pads become clogged and useless after just 3-4 passes. The pads clogging was a good thing. I threw them in the laundry and forced myself to...

How to make front bumper cover flush/even with fender?

This is a common problem on BMW 3-series, the corners become separated, just enough to become annoying to look at. With my car, I accessed the area by unclipping some panels in the wheel well. I drilled a hole in the lip of the bumper (that doesn't show if flush), ran a black zip tie through the...
