I've never owned a large air compressor before

Go with the bigger compressor and make sure you don’t have any leaks. No need for a second smaller compressor then. I have a 60 gallon Quincy 2-stage compressor in my shop and it sits for long periods of time and it never has less than 100 psi in the tank. That’s more than enough pressure to...

    Filthy Ford F150

I completely agree with the bold and that’s the reason many aren’t washed very often. One trip down a dirt road or through a field and it looks just like that again. For a lot of farm trucks the length of time since the last “wash” is determined by the last time it rained. Haha

    Pre mixed 50:1 2-cycle fuel.

I use non-ethanol fuel in everything except my cars/trucks. There is one station in my area that has it and it’s also available at a couple marinas. I know that’s not the case everywhere though, so the pre-mixed cans are probably the next best option for low usage 2-cycle engines.

The OCD Method of Washing Microfiber Towels

The new HE washers are the product of stricter water usage requirements, NOT because of technology advancements. With the lower amounts of water used, the agitator design is not practical because there isn’t enough water in the tub for the agitator to do its thing. The idea behind the new...

Your top tip for a machine polishing noob

It depends on the area and how careful you are. For most areas, side windows, emblems, wheel mouldings, etc., I usually just run one piece of 1” or 1.5” wide tape along the edge of the trim next to the paint and this is sufficient. For the area between the base of the windshield and the...

How long does your maintenance wash take?

Depends how long the line is... :xyxthumbs:

What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Finally washed the dust of the the truck. The truck isn't my daily driver, I don't drive it in the winter and with the crazy Covid stuff going on I've been WFH since March. So, long story short, I haven't driven the truck since last November. It sits in my workshop where it tends to...

Your top tip for a machine polishing noob

Tape off all trim and anything else you don't plan on polishing BEFORE grabbing the buffer. Nothing worse than finishing up the buffing process only to have to spend another hour trying to clean up the mess you left on the trim.

Moderators, any thoughts on adding a “regional” or “states” specific subforum?

I think that’s a great idea. I’m a member of a snowmobile forum that has this and it makes it a lot easier to find things that are happening close by and meet up with people who might live close to you. I think this could be very helpful for detailing as well.

    Horror Show---Honda Accord V6

That’s an amazing turn around. Just trying to wrap my mind around how someone lets their car get that bad and then is willing to pay the money to have it cleaned up. Are they getting ready to sell it or something?

    Truck Shopping

The best way to get the best deal is to not go in person until you’ve reached the price you want. Some will argue that the dealer won’t give their best price via email because they think you are just using them to beat down another dealer and this is true for some dealers, but the ones that...

New guy trying to decide what to use for winter prep and ongoing maint

Collinite products are also great for winter protection. I’ve used both 845 and 476 with great results in Michigan winters. I use 476 on my inline sled trailer every year. It takes a little more effort to remove, but it holds up amazingly well.

Really need to raise my prices...

Thanks. These are actually both my dad's trucks. The 01 is his daily driver and the 18 is his "go to town truck". lol Both of my trucks are all black. Mine is the one on the left in this pic:

Your thoughts on 15,000 mile oil changes..

I tend to agree with most of what you said here. I'll also add that extending oil change intervals also reflects positively on cost of ownership. As fewer and fewer drivers perform their own routine maintenance, requiring oil changes (or any other routine maintenance) less frequently can be...

Just having some fun here... I really think I need to raise my prices. The after looks almost 20 years newer. ;) Before: After:
