Thanks for the response. I went with a 2 light Halogen instead based on your response and after reading some threads on other forums.

    work light

I'm looking to get a work/shop light to set up while working on my cars. I can't afford to re-do the lighting overhead in my garage so I'm looking at tripod work lights. Is there a preference between halogen and fluorescent? I'm considering something like: Designers Edge L-2005 130-Watt...

    6.5 pads on PCXP?

Ugh, I ordered this pcxp kit off AG on March 11: Porter Cable 7424 & Foam Pad Kit - Car Buffer. It came with 5 pads, all 6.5. I chose 2 orange, 2 white, and 1 gray. I then added another 6.5 gold jewelling pad. Are you telling me these pads are worthless now? I was all excited to do my cars...

    Lessons I learned from a Black 2009 BMW 550i

These pictures are just great, I keep showing my wife pics from the show n shine section to justify why I've dropped so much cash in the last couple weeks just to take care of our two daily drivers. I'm crossing my fingers that my black cars turn out half as nice as this. :xyxthumbs:

    p21s paint cleaner

Thanks for the reply Mike, I probably was less than clear. :) I understand putting a sealant on a wax can cause issues, and I understand wax over a sealant is topping. Specifically I was trying to ask whether the menzerna finishing polish would remove the paint cleanser (i.e. the p21s), thus...

    p21s paint cleaner

Good question, I'm using a DA as well with lake country pads. Not sure which to use with the cleaner. The description says the white pad is "perfect for pre-wax cleaners" but I was probably thinking the blue finessing pad or gray finishing pad would be more appropriate. But I'm not an expert...

Thanks to everyone for the replies! I feel a lot better now that I'll have no problems. (Other than newb mistakes of course!) ;)

    p21s paint cleaner

Thanks for the quick reply! And you have been putting a sealant on top of it, not just a wax?

    p21s paint cleaner

I ordered some of this a couple days ago to use on a relatively new vehicle (doesn't need a full polish yet). I was planning on washing, claying, , using the p21s cleanser to remove old sealant, then using menzerna po85rd, followed by black hole before sealing with wolfgang sealant. Problem...

    PB Black Hole Question...

I'll be looking forward to seeing your follow up post on how this turns out. I'm going to be using BH in my detailing, but I'll be topping with wolfgang sealant, and THEN natty blue. AGO noob question, but will you be posting your results in this section or in the show and shine section...

    Finishing polish needed?

Thanks for the advice merlin. And thanks to everyone for your help, I've decided on the following: 1. Wash, clay if needed. 2. Test SwirlX and white pad. Use more aggressive pad or Ultimate compound if swirls are stubborn. Follow UC with swirlx if it was used. 3. Follow with finishing...

    Finishing polish needed?

Thanks for the pads tips Mike. The kit I ordered gave me five choices so I went two orange, two white, one gray, with two free smaller red ones. Then I added a blue, a gray, and a gold "jeweling" one. I wanted to have options to play with!

    Finishing polish needed?

Wow, that is some expensive stuff there! Is there anything else you recommend? I've read good reviews on the PO85 you mentioned, but it seems hard to find and pricey. Well actually last year I did two coats of M21. Very shiny, but I felt it lacked the "depth". Thus, why I was going to put...

    Finishing polish needed?

Thanks for the reply termigator. I'm thinking about adding Poorboys Black Hole after the SwirlX now, and then sealing with 21, followed by natty blue wax. I just put the order in today. Can't wait to get all the stuff.

    New to Detailing from Iowa

I'm pretty sure the roadrunner was repainted sometime in the late 80's/early 90's. I'll make sure to ask before I go messing with it. ;)

    Finishing polish needed?

Hello everyone and thanks in advance for any suggestions. I'm completely new to detailing and have been reading/watching videos on AGO. Last summer, I clayed my black Escape and then applied some Meguiars 21. It was very easy to use and gave fantastic reflection. However, I also noticed a...

    New to Detailing from Iowa

Hello, I'm from Des Moines, IA and have been reading (and watching videos) on AGO since last summer. Decided it was time to finally sign up. I'm about to take the plunge and start working on my two cars with many of the tips I've read here. I have a 2005 Black Ford Escape as my guinea pig...
