Torn on decision for 2016 Suburban.

I 'm on my second gallon of Hydro Blue, and it's almost gone. I find this stuff amazing. I live in Alabama, lots of sun, heat, humidity, dust, rain, salty air, and it does a fantastic job on all the cars I've used it on. It's retains it's hydrophobic properties for a couple of months, at the...

    Old guy, new obsession

I'm 70, and still love to detail. Luckily. I'm extremely healthy. Come from a long line of centenarians. So hopefully. I can do this for many more years. My first da was a griots 6 ", and I still use it quite a bit. It's a great machine, and autogeek is a wonderful company to do business with.

What is used to remove polish oils before wax or sealant?

I don't remove polish before sealants, but some compounds may need to remove to check your paint I don't use coatings. But do use hydro blue( I love that stuff) remember, isopropyl alcohol comes in many strengths. 50/50 mix of 10% alcohol is different than 50/50 mix with 90% alcohol.

    Headlight Coating Removal

Is that a coating or a plastic overlay like laminex? If its a plastic, don't sand. If its a detiorating coating, you will need to do a multistep sanding and then a compound/polish.

What do you use to clean off pollen?

Pollen can scratch. I use a pressure washer first, then a highly lubricant soap with the GD method. Lots of wash mitts, lots of water, and water pressure to lift the pollen instead of dragging it over the paint surface. Here in southern Alabama, we live with pollen, gnats, and love bugs...

    Fabric softener sheet in dryer

Alcohol will remove most silicones. In building fishing rods, alcohol is used to remove silicone and epoxy from the rods, and off our hands, the table, the hair in your nose, etc. I would soak them in an alcohol solution for a while, rewash them in warm water with mild detergent or microfiber...

    Is iron X really needed?

I have never had a reaction on my paint with iron x. Wheels, yes. Paint. No. I don't think it has any effect on non ferrous particles.

    Wax on wax off

I would be careful of that rubber tip. It could push dried material on the paint and cause some scratching. Even soft, it is still an abrasive material. If it worked, great. I still like the chemical removal, I think there is less chance of marring or scratching. Beautiful car. Have fun...

    Wax on wax off

That's the ticket. However, it will remove wax, so be mindful of this. I use a soft small artist brush for this.

    Finishing polish suggestion

I have great results with Griots Fast correcting cream and correcting cream.. Also HD Speed is another great choice. These are simple products to use, just use the Girots in the shade. Of course, all the products should be used in the shade, but HD Speed is ok to use in the driveway. Sorta.
