    Slammed Chevy Colorado, detailed..

I did a white Colorado recently too and agree with the paint hardness. Surbuf pads & m105 would barely remove any defects. I had to work with a rotary & wool pad to cut it.

Adding some color to the garage walls.....

Does having a garage like that feel like you are walking around with a 2nd set of testicles? Good god!

    Possible career change

A lot of people swear by the tornado for saving time on interior work. I only have a tornado blow out gun and love it. My interior work is almost always the same. The amount of time spent on the paint is where I log serious hours.

recommend against newbies using rotary buffer?

Taping edges & high points is good practice. Never stop moving the buffer. Don't run it at 3000 rpm. I rarely run my rotary above 1000 rpm. Its not hard to control a rotary. There is just virtually no room for error with them. I can guarantee a hologram free finish with my da. I cannot...

What product best impressed you that you decided to try just because recommended in this forum?

DA polishers, megs MF pads, m101. I was a rotary user from 1999-2012. It barely ever gets used now. The relief from hologram anxiety is great.

    looking for work

Starting your own business would probably be easier than finding a shop that actually does quality detailing. Its just the way it is. I was on the same path as you. I worked for 4 different places and none of them were worth a damn. I started my own business 5 months ago. I still do a lot...

Thinking of wet sanding my whole car - advice wanted

If its a skill you really want to learn, it is worth taking the time to do it. Junk panels are a great way to learn, just like Mike said. If you really don't care much about the car. Go at it. I was thrown to the wolves and had to learn in a very high pace body shop. I never had the chance...

Thinking of wet sanding my whole car - advice wanted

Wet sanding & polishing out an entire car is a lot of work. I'd get some 3000 discs if I were you. I wouldn't tackle that job without a rotary and wool pad. Is it factory paint? If so, be very careful. Some factory clear coats are extremely thin. I'd suggest you try a small area first to...

    No lying. Let's be honest.

If its for a dealer it gets spray wax. I don't feel bad one bit. They don't feel bad giving me trashed cars and paying bottom dollar. Sometimes you have to cut corners to remain profitable. I am honest with them when I return their cars. If there is something I feel needs more attention, I...

Scared to quit my day job

I'd like to set something like that up. I'd like to See the dealers take better care of the cars I do post detail before I go attaching my name to the cars though. A dealer contracted me to help them get ready for a big sale recently. They didn't have a single microfiber towel in the shop...

Scared to quit my day job

I'm not offended. Its just what I have to do to survive. I'd like to never have to touch a dealer car, but that's not in the cards right now.

Scared to quit my day job

If you have a dream, I say go for it. If you had a high paying job, that would be different. You can make a your full weeks wages with about 3 cars depending on pricing. I recently quit my job and started my business. It has gone OK so far. You have to be able to stomach the slow months...

    First time polishing mishap?

I'd try to get it repainted under warranty. I worked in a body shop, and we did a lot of warranty work on Hondas for this exact reason.

Umm, I got Questions About this Polisher

A guy I know has a couple of them. He said it weighs like 18 pounds, so it just sits in his shop. No one will use it he said.

    M205 as a 1 step?

I use 205 as a one step all the time. I usually use a mf cutting pad with it. I get great results with this combo. If you have soft paint that will probably mar it up.

Will a pc 7424xp remove 2000grit sand scratches

I'd tackle that with a wool pad on a rotary. If the paint is fresh, you might be able to get it. If its fully cured, you might be there for a couple of days

    Neighbor Hosed Down My SUV...WTH?

My previous landlord used to place the sprinkler, so it would spray all over our cars. I asked her not to hit the cars anymore. She didn't listen. She finally got the point when I set up the sprinkler and sprayed the water in her windows on her side of the duplex. Problem solved
