Yea, I hear ya. But there's failure on every horizontal surface and at every gap. The customer wants to sell the car so I suspect he's just going to take the hit on the sale price and move on. 2006 Vette. So, it's not very old.

What do you think? Is this the beginning of clear coat failure? I just received this Vette for a complete correction. I'm sure it's clear coat failure and I'm going to turn down the job. But, I want to see if anyone disagrees.

I don't know for certain if the decklid was repainted but I will ask the owner. My suspect is it was repainted. Compared to the rest of the car, there were a lot scratches and swirls on that area of the decklid. The quarter pane/bumper area just below it had a few lousy touchups and a few...

...I spent 10 hours on the car and the owner had me drive it to his country club and leave it in the parking lot in a downpour. :eek: :dunno:

Strangest thing I've seen in 13 years of polishing paint. These are pics of the driver side decklid of a 2011 E550 I just completed. If you look closely you'll see a ring roughly 10 inches in diameter. The ring essentially surrounds the only area on the car that had any rids. And there are a lot...

I used this method and it worked very well. :xyxthumbs: I used LC orange and white hybrid pads, Menzerna FG-400 and SF-3500 (aka SF-4000). I did get some caking while applying the FG-400 to the second section. Perhaps that's because I applied two spritzes of the Pinnacle XMT pad conditioner...
