Finished a 2013 Corvette Grand Sport. Wouldn't ya know it's going to rain again the day I deliver a finished car. :(

The car had it all. Deep scratches and water spots everywhere, swirls, and rotary holograms...

Too cloudy outside for good comparative after shots so I'll have to share garage pics under the LEDs.

Iron-X. Meguiar's aggressive clay. Menzerna FG400. Menzerna SF4000. Pinnacle Paint Cleansing lotion. Menzerna Power Lock. Pinnacle Souveran.

-Although, at least from my vantage point,
this vehicle doesn't look like a C6 Grand Sport...
-There's no arguing that the end results, from
your detailing of this vehicle, looks Grand!!

Thanks for sharing!

Oops. Where's that dang edit button. And I call myself a Chevy guy.

Wow!, that paint was HAMMERED! I'll never understand the how and why owners of such nice cars let them get that bad:nomore:

.....atleast there's AutoGeeks out there to come to the rescue, saving one paint job at a time!!

Fantastic job sir!

Thanks for sharing.

Looks great, what a turn around! Why is there a coin in one of the pics? Just curious :)

You mean something like the similarly
sized button...that's in the below picture?

(Hint: It's for "focusing"...see below MP-article)

RE: From this Mike Phillips article:
http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum...chings-other-surface-defects-your-camera.html

"A few tips and techniques for helping your camera to focus on the surface so you can capture the defects in the paint you're hoping to remove".

Coin
"A coin can also be used if the surface is flat and horizontal like the hood. Place the coin carefully onto the paint so as not to instill a scratch. If you already have a flawless, swirl-free finish then maybe stick with the finger or clay technique. If you're getting ready to buff the car out then as long as you're careful you'll be okay..."

Thanks guys. Yea, the car was pretty beat up. Those are the most fun to work on, though. :) I think I'll be doing a '55 Chevy from the same client sometime soon. It's in much better condition.

Like Bob said, the dime is for focusing. Cool trick.

I've learned all sorts of things here on AG other than detailing. Like photography. Man what I'd give to have a photo library of all the cars I've done over the years. I've recently started a business and sure could use the pics now. It never crossed my mind to take pictures. I was just having fun polishing cars.

I was so glad when I got away from a digital camera and went to my Nikon with manual focus. Maybe the digitals have manual focus now, I'm not sure. Manual focus is great to show defects and whatever else. No coins needed.:xyxthumbs:
