How much product do I use with my DA Polisher?

Well, my lame-but experience: If you have a choice, use the paste version not the liquid version. Much more suitable for a DA.

    Missing flight MH370

Nah. Crazed/suicidal pilot [it would be hard to tell motivations even if you were a fly on the wall in the cockpit] took over plane. Possibly not one of the two scheduled pilots. Ultimately crashed plane. Bizarre, but not that bizarre.

    My first ONR wash

I'd say you'd get a big boost in appearance for not much money by taking care of the headlights. Don't ask me how, but that's what I'd do. I wouldn't beat myself up about the condition of the paint: Clean cars with straight bodies and faded paint have a certain dignity to them. There are...

    Props to Griots!

Well, good for them, but when you sell a machine that cost less than $30 to make, you can afford to have a really really good lifetime warranty. L.L. Bean built an empire that way.

Done With Wax on Daily Driver

An interesting question though: Could we just dispense with this wax/ selant stuff and get by with a good wash and spray wax? If we wash our cars every week or two anyway, wouldn't that be enough?

What to use now to maintain vehicle?

That's what I do. A spray wax will bring up the shine some, so why not? its only about 5 to 10 minutes of work. You can get the Aquawax rinseless carwash, with the AW in it, then you don't even have to do the spray wax. I like the Aquawax product, but probably 80% of the spraywaxes out there...

    Sold on Collinite 845

Its almost too durable. How do I get this stuff off? I use the paste wax version 476 because I use a DA. Its been four months, and still clings like the dickens. I thought today that the beading was ever so slighly less tight, but it could have been my imagination. It just sails through the...

    Newbie's plan of attack

Sounds good. (Well, more accurately, I should say it sounds about like what I do.) I like the Duragloss rinseless very well, its cost-effective like nearly all Duragloss products. However, I'm not so sure a combined product (has Duragloss Aquawax in it) is really a good idea. I can't bring...

    $80 to spend

Assuming you are starting from scratch: 1. Collinite 845 wax. 2. Duragloss microfiber mitt. 3. two grit guards 4. Small bottle Optimum No Rinse wash (can be used to make home made detailer) 5 This is where I go out on a limb: I'd get a bottle of Duragloss Aquawax spray wax, and a...

    taking the plunge

Its a piece of cake to clay a new car anyway. I'd describe it as being almost a pro forma kind of thing. So you might as well get off on the right foot. I did the same as you: I resolved to take better care of my new car after neglecting my old one. I found this site. I'm by no means...

    Alternative for clay bars

For $65 (US?) a claybar I'd quit detailing and go into smuggling.

First No Rinse Wash - And Used Garry Dean's Method

Honestly, I think wheel cleaning is a weakness of the Garry Dean method, although they will certainly look presentable when you are done. I'm one of those guys who will take a very dirty car to the coin op and then do the Garry Dean method. That's my opportunity to really attack the wheels...

Looking for a good spray wax

I like Duragloss Aquawax. But really, I don't think its all that critical. The next time you wash your car it will be gone. At the same time, almost any brand you use will be an improvement on your surface without spray wax. to me its mostly an issue of ease of application. DG is good on...

Can i use a nanoskin sponge like this?

I used concentrated no-rinse wash on mine. About 8X strength, i.e. enough for a gallon put in a pint spray bottle. Worked fine.

    Basic Wash

This. Get the grit guards and the home depot buckets (the Pep Boys buckets are too small to accomodate their own grit guards) Get a microfiber mitt. I've moved to the Garry Dean method--you basically load up on cheap microfiber towels and slap one saturated towel after another (saturated in...

    Micro fibers

Quantity beats quality in this area in my opinion. I'd get the giant economy bag at the warehouse store. That's probably a little extreme, but make sure you have enough, and don't hesitate to skimp on quality to do it. [my opinion is probably an outlier].

How often can you machine polish a car?

quit shilly-shallying folks. What is the answer? Start from new, say a GM car, Fine polish, say Megs 205. Sure he can buy a thickness gauge, but how many times can he expect to have at it? 5? 20? If its 20, I'd say, sure, do it every couple of years if you want. If its 5, I'd say ration...

    The Slickest Sealant

Jetseal 109 is awfully slick in the sense of towels and things sliding off it. I don't care about physical slickness one whit, myself.

For stripping.... Dawn or dedicated paint cleaner?

Where do you get Sqeaky Clean Duragloss? it seemed to have disappeared from their web site the last time I looked.

For stripping.... Dawn or dedicated paint cleaner?

OK Mr. Pipuk. I'm convinced. So how do I get this stuff off? I'm very pleased with the durability of the Collinite 476, but its not so shiny any more, and spring will be here soon.
