    Pad vs. Product

Larry Kosilla from AMMO NYC and Drive/Clean explains it better than I so I'll just leave this here: http://youtu.be/rYed_Hnrql4

1st day with my Flex 3401

Nice work OP. I've been a flex guy for over a yr now. I tried the LHR15, it was ok for a couple months until it broke. Now I use the 3401 and PE-14 in tandem. One of the best 1-2 punches in the business!!

    carnauba wax

"Cure time" should be noted on the product itself whether it be a wax or a sealant. Carnuba and other natural waxes break down faster than synthetic waxes. That's not an opinion, that is a fact. One thing I talk to my customers about is if their car is garaged, daily driven, weekend warrior...

What to do on this car?

105 would very likely be too aggressive.

    clay bar or prep towel?

I use both claybar and a nanoskin washmitt depending on the situation. The mitt SIGNIFICANTLY reduces my time gettimg the contaminants off the paint. That being said - there have been a few times where I've gone back to clay, like in very tight spaces for example. But the good thing about the...

looking to get my first rotary

Since I was very impressed with the 3401 I ended up getting a PE-14 for a rotary. Like all flex products it's sturdy and well built. It's also extremely light weight. Great all around machine.

2013 Subaru WRX STi - Headlight Film / Oxidation / Polish Residue? Help

Do you have a buffer, pads, and compound? For jobs like this I usually use my 3401, orange pad, and either M105 or Menz FG400. Then follow up with M205 on a white or green pad. Then seal it up with JS109.

    Policy on Tipping

It all depends on the customer. I have a few that want to haggle over every dime (I usually won't do those) and I have some that are VERY generous. Some really understand and appreciate hard work - I got an $80 dollar tip on top of a $300 job on my last detail. I did do a few "extra" things for...

    Waterless wash / No Rinse

I haven't used a hose in 2 years. Rinsless is all I do because most of my details are indoors. As others have mentioned if you use the correct technique and you have good wash media you will be fine. I use the GDWM and it works really well, it's safe and fast.

Recommend me a good quality sealant.

On my last 3 details I've combined it with Butter Wet Wax and the pop is pretty amazing. My last customer was almost in tears he was so happy. That reaction never gets old!!:xyxthumbs:

Ruh Row... talked to Santa and ordered a 3401 - Shhhh don't tell CarMomma!

Congrats on the 3401 - it's my "go to" buffer for sure. In fact I sold my Rupes 15 and gave my PC to my GF. It's just the 3401 and PE-14 for this guy!

Recommend me a good quality sealant.

I'm probably gonna get flamed for this but I've been using JS109 from CG with pretty good success.

New from Missouri, stationed in Okinawa

You're very welcome. You can definitely earn some decent cash here, don't get me wrong. Just like everywhere else you have to build your reputation. I started out doing a lot of "grunt" work, mostly maintenance washes and the like. But on a fellow detailers advice I raised my prices and started...

New from Missouri, stationed in Okinawa

Welcome aboard.... I started detailing here May of last year. It's not too bad but you won't get the $ here you see in the states. I leave in about 3months though. If you have any questions lmk. BTW - the USMC hobby shops are selling Collinite now!! Also - don't detail any cars but your own at...

    Flex 3401

I did the same thing last year when I bought my 3401 - I retired my PC to interior work only. A couple months ago (after watching a couple of Mikes videos) I added a PE-14 to my arsenal. I'm so happy and impressed with the Flex "twins" that I'm also looking at the PE8 for tight spaces. Flex has...

Oops, I made a mistake How you can learn from me

I had 3 BIG mess ups in 2014: - the first was on a 2011 Lexus SUV (Japanese spec), while trying to lightly remove some finger prints on the inside of the B pillar (white interior) the fabric just tore. I told the customer I'd take care of it and to just give me the bill. He never got back to...
