Cleaning SS Exhaust Tips - Tools?

I think I'm gonna try a pneu die grinder w/some felt wheels of various shapes. Dremel is a possibility if I could find a large enough wheel. Thanks for the suggestions. Jim

Cleaning SS Exhaust Tips - Tools?

Thanks, but not really the answer to my question. I can get them shiny, but looking for a tool or method to do a better job. Jim

Cleaning SS Exhaust Tips - Tools?

I have a 2002 SVT Lightning with 4" SS side-exiting exhaust tips (see pic below). They get dirty and I have to clean/polish every few weeks. I'm using Eagle One Wadding and Megs #105 to get the grime off, and occasionally I'll use #0000 steel wool to get after stains. However, I'm never really...

About to give up on m105

When I use #105, I spray/mist the pad FIRST with #34 Final Inspection, then prime the pad. Seems like it works much longer and removes so much easier. I'm sure I lose some cut, but that's OK with me. The new UC and UP works super, as mentioned. Jim

My second client, don't have the tools to do the job!

Rather than the "Green" model, get the Bissel "Auto" model; it has higher working amerage and tools especially for auto cleaning. Make sure you try to keep the carpet as dry as possible and still get it clean. Warn the owner that it might take a while for the carpet/upolstery to dry. Jim

    New From Minnesota.

The Minnesota climate poses some unique challenges for detailers. Ask me how I know. Rule #1: Bring your detailing supplies indoors during the winter; freezing will wreck most of them. Jim (in Red Wing)

    Clear Bra, Why so Expensive?

I did a lot of research before I tried this stuff. It's NOT like any other stuff I've seen. It's not that thick crap that looks like dried snot, and it goes on smooth and cannot be told from a clear coat...in fact it is a clear coat that never really hardens. Remains flexible to ward off the...

ONR Made a Believer Out of Me!

Yeah, I thought it was a crazy theory, too. You could always hit the vehicle with a pre-wash rinse to get the dust/dirt off. I live on a gravel road and have to constantly deal with the dust. But, I gave ONR a try anyway and a little dust doesn't hurt the paint using the ONR (I know: a...

    Clear Bra, Why so Expensive?

Of course it's permanent; it's sprayed on over the clear coat (none of those nasty tape lines). I can speak from personal experience that this stuff is a great product. Sprays on over your clearcoat. I had mine shot by my body guy and after a year it is still flawless. Here's a pic: Just...

Love 'em, but getting so expensive. I order all mine online. Best deal is the JR Alternative line. So good; so reasonably priced. Jim

    Detailed the HHR yesterday

OK, I was speaking of the dealer-installed module. I stand corrected. I was just curious about how much extra nuts the upgrade added to the HHR. Jim

    Detailed the HHR yesterday

You can get them lots cheaper online. My understanding is that it's just a plug-in module that needs no tuning. Jim

    Sometimes it's the little things...

...that really seem to help. When detailing paint, I always used a cheap-o plastic stool to sit on when I did the vertical surfaces (fenders; doors). No wheels on it and I was always having to stand up countless times to move the stool to get the right position to work in. A few weeks ago I...

ONR Made a Believer Out of Me!

I've had a bottle of this stuff lying around since last fall, but never really gave it a shot. I hate washing my vehicles at home because I have hard water and usually have to wash in the sun. So, I get awful water spots, even when I rinse carefully and try to dry quickly. I use a leaf blower...
