Personally on my own cars I use the products that I feel make the experience better. Lots of factors go into this such as smell, ease of use, packaging, and of course the final product. So I am more interested in the products that have all of those qualities since I wax my car once a month...
When I first started looking into buffing this video was reccommended to watch from my local forum. After reading Mikes book and the thousand plus threads on here I laughed when I was watching it this time.

Personally I like using three different types of waxes:
CG Black for dark - near black - cars
a white concours such as CG 5050 for most cars
a yellow nuba for red, orange, yellow, etc.. color cars.
I just like the way these waxes look on the colors mentioned above. Obvioulsly you can wax...
CG Blacklight
CG Glossworz Glaze
CG 5050
303 Aerospace Protectant
Turtle Wax bug and tar spray, that stuff just plain works. (if anyone knows of anything better let me know)

If you only want a wax and one that is under $50 I have to say go for 5050 wax by Chemical Guys. It is $49.99 right now and it looks amazing on every car I have put it on. Just my .02
Here is the link: Look up reviews for it at a forum, not the website Chemical Guys WAC_302 - 5050 Limited...
Chemical Guys Black wax looks amazing on dark cars. A litte dab goes a long way too. I have waxed three cars with it and all of them looked fantastic after I was done.
