Ultimate Polish is what I use as well, switched from Adam's. I think UP is the same (consumer grade) as your M205 if I'm not mistaken, good stuff :dblthumb2:

I use 2 bucket method and a mitt, also pre-soak.

They run about $800.00 / set new from the dealer, about half that on ebay when you can find them. They are prone to damaging like this from what I've found out so I think the flat black high temp paint is the way to go unfortunately.

I'm thinking the black is corrosion that wore off the original metal or something b/c I've cleaned them and hit them with metal polish and it did nothing, not even a slight improvement. I'm thinking I'll have to paint them or have them sandblasted and re-chromed or something...

Yep, I moved to that and ultimate polish as my 2 step go to from a "boutique" brand, love the stuff.

Picked up a new toy and inside and out is pristine but the tail pipes have been neglected and now seem destroyed with corrosion or something. I tried metal polish but it did nothing, I'm not sure if a coating has been removed or what is going on with them. I'm thinking of just sanding them and...

I use a 50/50 water/rubbing alcohol, or claying will take care of it. I've never used the dawn stuff after reading that it is pretty harsh and not needed.
